It's getting a bit depressing in here...

Okay, I feel the need to say something.

To the five of you who still catch up on this site, I bet you all have the same question on your minds: "How come the stories are nothing but death stories nowadays?"

Yes, you have a valid point, and I should probably address this. Ever since Toonami was canned, the editors here have had practically no drive to keep updating the news. The only topic this site was meant to cover is dead, so there is little need for news coverage.

Spambots mostly take over the news submissions, but once in a while, a legitimate user submission will fall through the cracks, and they just happen to cover--you guessed it--a celebrity's recent death.

If you guys feel the need to submit celebrity deaths, that's fine, but if there's news for other things that Toonami had covered in the past, feel free to send them in. Whatever direction this news goes depends on you guys now.

A Very Belated Tribute to a Legend...

Dwayne McDuffie (1962-2011)

Dwayne McDuffie, the writer for episodes of Teen Titans and story editor for Justice League Unlimited, among many other projects, has died on February 21, 2011, a day following his birthday. He was 49 years old.

Alfred, come in. Alfred...Alfred! Alfred!!!

Alfred is dead, Batman.

Michael Gough (1916-2011)

Michael Gough, a British actor who played Alfred Pennyworth in four Batman movies (the first half directed by Tim Burton, the second half by Joel Schumacher), and the BBC radio drama adaptation of Batman: Knighthood, has died of natural causes on March 17, 2011. He was ninety-four years old.

King Triton lays his trident down one last time...

Kenneth Mars (1936-2011)

Famed actor and comic Kenneth Mars, notable for playing Grandpa Longneck in the Land Before Time films and TV series, and King Triton in Disney's The Little Mermaid franchise (before Jim Cummings took the role for The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning), has passed away on February 12, 2011. He was 74 years old. Cause of death, pancreatic cancer.

Gotham News reports that Killer Croc has bitten the dust in Arkham...

Aron Kincaid (1940 - 2011)

The California-born voice actor not only played Killer Croc in Batman: The Animated Series. He also voiced the Autobot Lieutenant Commander Sky Lynx in the original Transformers animated series.

Aron Kincaid has died at Ronald Regan UCLA Hospital, at the age of 70, on January 11, 2011.

Speed and Racer X die in collision course!

EInsiders reports that Peter Fernandez, the voice behind the titular character, and Racer X, in the English dub of the original Speed Racer, has passed away. He was 83 years old. His cause of death was lung cancer.

Carl Macek, Father of 'Robotech' (1951-2010)

Jerry Beck at Cartoon Brew broke the news that his former Streamline Pictures co-founder and "creator" of Toonami cornerstone Robotech, passed away of a heart attack Saturday, April 17th.

Among other animation projects throughout his career in addition to adapting Robotech for Harmony Gold in 1984, Mr. Macek helped Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi start his Spumco animation studio as well as co-founding anime film distributor Streamline Pictures.

Mr. Macek had also recently worked on English script adaptations for Naruto and Bleach.

Mr. Beck summed it up best- "Carl had his critics. But one thing is certain: the popularity of anime in the North America [sic] would not be where it is today without Macek's groundbreaking work on Robotech and his efforts on behalf of Streamline Pictures."

R.I.P. and thank you Mr. Macek.

Eddie Carroll, the current voice for Jiminy Cricket, Disney's version of the talking cricket from the story of Pinocchio, has died at the age of 76.

A nephew's farewell

Roy E. Disney, nephew of studio founder Walt Disney, and longtime executive of the Walt Disney Company (as well as Director Emeritus) has passed away today at the age of 79, after a year-long battle with stomach cancer.
