Anime soundtracks are good, but the music is just one component of an enjoyable anime. This thread deals with the visual part. Which studio makes the coolest, prettiest, eye candiest visuals? Please try not to let how good or bad the story, plot, or characters of the anime influence your decision.

Some example studios and works they've done include:

Sunrise: Gundam series, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Escaflowne
TOEI: DragonBall series, Sailor Moon, Fist of the North Star
GAINAX: Evangelion, His and Her Circumstances
AIC: Tenchi series, Bubblegum Crisis series, Armitage
Production IG: Ghost in the Shell, Blue Seed
Pierrot: YuYu Hakusho

If you're not sure what studio did a particular anime, just ask and maybe someone on this board can answer your question.

Mad House (Trigun, X, Chobits) is the animation studio. They do great work.
Gonzo's digital animation (Blue Sub No. 6, Vandread, Hellsing) has recently caught my attention.

Even though they've been through some rough spots the one company that has consistently come out with new and groudbreaking anime in recent years has to be Gainax. Don't believe me, watch Gunbuster.

Sunrise, AIG, and Production IG are all pretty awesome--but you left out one that consistently makes beautiful work-- Ghibli. :p

Doesn't ring a bell. Could you give some examples of their work?

Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro...do any of those ring a bell??

:edit: My first post was an exagerrated overreaction, and I apologize for it. You'd think I'd be one of the more mature people here, after all... Embarassed

I've only seen Princess Mononoke. The studio name didn't stick in my head. Neutral

Don't blame Beefy for not knowing the name of the studio. They're owned by Disney after all, so any allusion to the original work of any project must be denied, denounced, and de-anything-else-that-gets-in-Disney's-way-of-making-a-buck.

I personally like AIC, but Sunrise is tops when it comes to classic titles.

No they're not. Distribution rights only.

Allegedly, that has been S.O.P. for the "Anaheim Devils" for quite a few years now. Wink

Most of my favorite titles are AIC. I prefer the way AIC never lets a good character design go to waste. Wink Laughing
But Beefy's original post focused on visuals, and AIC's work, while solid craftsmanship (usually), can hardly be described as "eye-candiest".

shame on you Beefy! you need to get your hands on some Ghibli, now! every Studio Ghibli film I've seen has been among the best movies I've ever seen, period - that probably has something to do with Miyazaki though Wink (although Grave of the Fireflies is awesome too)

Not everyone has lots of money to spend on anime DVDs. Some of us have student loans, and rent, and lots of other expenses.
