...Why would you consider that a mistake?
Think about it, they never finished showing the most ground breaking anime series ever.
Before Gundam all gaint robot shows where basicaly like Power Rangers, with all the posest and etc.
Well, what do you expect? There are several Gundam shows, movies, and OVAs. You can't just expect CN to pick them all up at once. That would be too costly, too quick. It takes time to distribute, dub, and license them all, so they pick up one at a time. Also, the franchise is still being produced in several different forms in Japan even today (Gundam SEED, anyone?), so they can't finish it just yet. Not finishing a franchise is not a mistake.
OK...im just talking about the FIRST GUndam Series. Not the whole franchise. MSG(0079) UC sereis
