Or get addicted to ITG. It's better. Figure out which one of these is closest to you.

Actually...we were at Gameworks last night and decided AGAINST In The Groove... because it wasn't DDR.

What the hell. ITG is in almost all respects better than DDR. It was specifically designed for people dissapointed with DDR.

ITG is made in the US by people who played a lot of DDR and other dancing games. The music is more club and trance vs. DDR's J-Pop-ness. Instead of Naoki who produces ~70% of DDR songs, you have Kyle Ward who is a lot better making ~60% of ITG songs.
ITG songs tend to be a lot harder on the higher difficulties (it's got 4 or 5 difficulties on every song, so it's not hard for beginners; it's just more spread out). DDR is well... a lot less fun and interesting step-wise. ITG is also a lot more optimized for reading arrows, and the mods are incredibly cooler and better.
It's not like you have to convert from one to another. I know plenty of people who play both. It's especially good if you play at home because you can add ITG vol. 1 to your "DDR Collection"
I myself have pretty much switched over. There are very few songs in DDR that I like as much as a lot of the ITG ones. As someone on the DDRFreak forums put it: "DDR has three kinds of songs: songs that are easy, songs that are fast, and songs that are musically wrong."

So...answer me this:

Halfsteps.
I hate them. (yes, I'm a loser)

How's ITG in that regard?

Half-steps as in 8th notes? What's so hard about twice as fast? You usually start running into them in 4-bar and up songs, mostly. Just like DDR. Though if you want to trick yourself you can double the scroll speed and put the arrow type to flat.

I play hopscotch-style.
That's probably not a real term, but I spend most of my time in the air, hops timed to quarter notes (that's probably why I get tired so fast).
It works well for most songs, but any eighthnote is an impossibility with my normal "groove", and I end up trying to stumble them out, looking like an ass.

Yeah--I saw someone hopping like that yesterday and having that exact problem. It's really good for starting out and lower levels, but when you get to higher difficulties it just tires you out. Watch people that're playing the sort of songs you can't do and just watch how they move their body around.
