Lots of fun stuff pops up in discussion sometimes. For example:

"Remember how things use to be in the DC Comics Universe when they were
separated into things like Earth 1, Earth, 2, Earth 3, Earth Fuzzy and
so forth?

At first it was their way of explaining how there could be a Batman &
Robin active in 1940 & 1965 and yet Robin still look around 14. Later it
expanded into all sorts of others Earths till they got rid of the idea
in the 80's.

Yeah? And that has exactly what to do with this list? What it has to do
is I am just looking for a way to ease my way into a frightful
comparison that came to me while watching the Cowboy Bebop Movie (I
blame low blood sugar.)

What I purpose are two separate time / space continuums that I will call
Earth J-POP and Earth HB.

Consider

Earth HB: Scooby Doo Where Are You?

1. Four people and a dog that travel around in a distinctive
vehicle solving mysteries.

2. They consist of a shaggy guy, a buff guy a sexy gal, a brainy
gal & a smarter than average dog.

3. They encounter one monster after another that turns out not
to be what it seems.

4. The dog talks........ After a manner.

Earth J-Pop: Cowboy Bebop.

1. Four people and a dog that travel around in a distinctive
vehicle solving if not mysteries at least trying to nab the solution of
former mysteries that have escaped the law and a few just plain
mysteries as well.

2. They consist of a shaggy guy, a buff guy, a sexy gal, a
brainy gal & a smarter than average dog.

3. They encounter all kinds of weirdness that turns out to have
a lot more to it that at first glance.

4. The dog can type & program...... well!

Well it just goes on and on doesn't it?

What I am getting out is that once you look at the two shows there are
some frightful comparisons. Oh sure there are also some MAJOR
differences as well (ones good and the other is basically just one not
very imaginative story told over and over again) but beyond that there
are a lot of points on which they click.

Now I know the folks in Japan for sure did not get any inspiration for
Cowboy Bebop from Scooby Doo, hell, I doubt they ever even saw it.

So what explanation are we left with for the sake of our sanity? Earth
J-POP & Earth HB. Works for me.

Which leave me to wonder what are the Earth J-Pop versions of Josie &
the Pussy Cats? Johnny Quest? Top Cat? The Smurfs?!!?

I don't want to think about the Earth HB versions of say Sailor Moon as
I don't want my brain to melt."

Anyone else? Very Happy

More like the network the servers plug into..definition.

Loads of spam, but there is some lively discussion and info for the bandwidth-challenged, like me (at home). I learned a lot...really...

I am more confused than a dog thrust into the Battle of Getysburg with nothing but a rifle and his confidence!

...

Did I just unintentionally create a pathetically idiotic, drama-aspiring-but-failing-poorly story line?

And it only took you two and a half months to notice it, too. Thanks. Laughing

as sad as the show is...
sometimes it's fun to go around talking like Scooby...

And I wonder why the psycho kids look at me funny...

That might also explain why I beat out a pierced pot-head for "Most Unique, Male" in my senior class...

And a slammed home necro reply thanks to a Nobu link!

I was also thinking about how much the three on Samurai Champloo seem to match the three primaries on Cowboy Bebop. Although they are missing Edward and Ein on Champloo.

Ok the flying squirrel for Ein makes sense. The hard part with the Fuu thing is the same problem as Ed. Ed was what 13 maybe? And Fuu i believe says shes 15 or 16. Fuu is put to work in prostitution how many times in Champloo? Not many but enough to know you wouldnt even want to think about the same thing with Ed.

Wasnt there an episode of Bebop that implied there might be something going on between Fey (ack spelling) and Ed?

I'm pretty sure I'd remember that if there was. Wink
