Well, we finally switched to Dish Network and we now have a dvr, so can someone tell me if there is any good anime showing at night? Giant robots prefered.

Your best bets for robots would be "Vandread", if you have access to Encore's channels.

Oh how i love my DirecTV and TiVO. It runs nonstop at night. Mostly non-anime though sorry. Daily Show, X-Play, Celebrity Poker Showdown, World Rally Championship ect. Plus all the usual Toonami and Adult Swim shows.

ouch... dish and tivo are a horrid combo. Cox cable finally started offering dvr and its a match made in heaven. Unlike the dish dvr's, I can actually record two shows and watch a third at the same time.

The only down side is that its using mpeg2 encoding like the old dish dvrs so you can see visual artifacts.

Actually, for me cable is cheaper then dish network. Its really a regional thing but here in Stillwater it really is cheaper. Plus, with all the bad weather we get, I'd rather have cable than dish.

Here in NY, we switched from cable to Dish Network, we still have all the channels we had before (except for the science and the millitary channels) pluse all of the HBO, speed and we have a dvr, and we pay $10 less for the first year and then it will be the same price we payed before for cable. I don't know how it will be when the weather gets really bad, but now the quality is actually better then on cable.

I only lose service during really nasty lightning storms. But even in the worst of snows up here we didnt lose it.

Been very happy with DirecTV. I switched because of Cartoon Network, SciFi and Speedvision. My cable company had moved them to premium digital cable several years ago and DirecTV offered them for much cheaper.

See I don't have digital cable. Everything I want or even care to watch is on Basic expanded. At by brother-in-law's in Nebraska, they had Dish DVR and another TV. They were paying over $100 for all the movie channels and other crap on dish and still only had one feed into the DVR, so you were stuck with whatever was set to record. Anytime the weather got really bad and you wanted to check in on the local tv stations, it would always go out. If it was just raining and nothing actually threatend your life, then it worked.

I like Cable for the fact that I get all the channels i care to watch and I can splice the feed as many times as I want without paying more for it. Plus being in tornado alley, its a matter of safety having a constant feed from the local news channels.

As i said earlier, my only gripe with the cable dvr is that its using vcd encoding and looks like a bad station coming through on dish.

Oh and thats another thing. Digital is not better than analog unless it is encoded correctly. Up in nebraska, this one UPN station came in so bad that it had massive after images. I'd rather have straight analog over a horribly compressed signal anyday.
