Download. Install. Play.
And don't forget to go to someplace populated, like, New York, and enable Buildings (little check box at hte bottom of the window.) and to use the altitude meter to lower your view and then pan around and such.
That is all. _________________ anime is teh s uck

I started to use it a few weeks ago. I have been marking down where my friends live. It was a bit of a pain since the photos are about 2-3 years old. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." - Calvin

I find it somewhat enjoyable, because the photos are dated enough that, when you find my house, you can see my old clunker pickup truck on the street... =)
Speaking of clunkers, I can't actually use Google Earth on my computer due to how old it is. I just barely exceed the minimum specs but it won't install on a Windows older than XP (nor can I blame it for that...). It isn't exactly a 'must-have' app, but it's fun to mess with at times... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

yeah, I'll admit it is fun to see how much my town has changed in 2-3 years. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." - Calvin

It's fun to mess around with, but you can tell it's way out of date on some things- it does't even show the massive man made islands being constructed in Dubai.
EDIT: And what's this "Abu Zabi" they're talking about? Did the people of Abu Dhabi decide to honor the Gundam Universe in the last few years? _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Played with it when I was supposed to be working today.
Sucks that the 3D buildings aren't texture-mapped, but I guess that's mostly impossible on their scale.
Is there a way to cache data for specific areas? it sucks to fly from one part of a city to another nearby city only to zoom in on a single pixel of grey for 15 seconds until that area gets buffered and displayed. _________________ My old sig was too long. |

Ah, yes. The infamous site formerly known as Keyhole.
Google bought Keyhole, renamed it Google Earth, and made it free without the need for a subscription or a 30-day trial.
Thanks, Google. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015 |

It's pretty awesome. Too bad I have a 20GB hard drive and space is at a premium, or that'd be installed full-time.
It looks really kickass on a 108" projector though, as we found at school. I'm sure geography teachers love it. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

First time I saw it, was in my AutoCAD class, and it was put up on a gloriously large projector. I was in the back row (out of 6 rows, so like, 20 feet from the screen, ish) and was kinda sick and when it flew around I got dizzy and sort of got that pre-emptive pre-emptive-puking feeling.
And I thought to myself, "I must have this on my machine . . . now." _________________ anime is teh s uck

Wildly off tangent: one could argue that Ice Cream is also out-awesomed by pr0n. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Did no one catch that I named this topic such as an homage to the oh-so-infamous thread of yore?

That was kind of what I was going for from the start.
And why not? Don't we have new essays now? _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Because the adventure ends the SAME WAY every time. It's kind of like reading a "Choose your own adventure" book and getting the "You fell in love with Richard Simmons" ending no matter what you choose. Even if you choose to kill yourself off, you still get the same crappy ending. _________________ anime is teh s uck
