Did anyone see The Groovenians on ASC last night? Am I the only one that wants to stab everyone involved in making it?

I actually got a chance to watch ASC last night since I didn't have school today and thus could stay up as long as I wanted I watched Home Movies and noticed the quality has gone up and it's actually starting to grow on me. Then I see The Groovenians come on and I'm like "Ok, I'll watch a little to see if it's good" then on the credits I noticed the name of one of the producers: Paul Ruebens. Now I've never been a fan of Pee-Wee Herman, so maybe that's it, but I said "Uh-oh . . . "

So the actual show comes on and I notice it's in CGI, so I'm all like "How bad can it be? It HAS to be better than Butt Ugly Martians."

But it wasn't. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's more of a disgrace to CGI then BUM ever, EVER could be. At least BUM is aimed at kids, and they actually LIKE it.

Not only where the models, motions, and lighting effects STARK RAVING HORRIBLE, but the plot made me want to puke, eat my puke, than puke my puke. I was wowed by it's utter crappiness.

Now, I'm not one to complaiun about a show. I was one of hte few people saying "Hey, if you don't like Hamtaro, don't watch it. No one's forcing you, and it'll be gone before you know it." But this series was just too bad for me not to say something.

So, anyone agree/want to kill the creators/disagree/want to hunt me down and force me to watch it as punishment for saying it's horrible?

I didn't see it. It sounded horrible. Just saw Sealab, Aqua Teens, and the Brak with Weird Al.

the groovians was absolutly horrid. I don't know what the toonzone guy was on when he reviewed it but holy crap he needed to share. They really need to step up a bit when it comes to the quality of the specials that they air, especially once saturday is gone.

i believe hearing that last night was just a pilot, a single "test" episode to guage interest in the idea of possibly making it a future show, so even if it becomes a series, you won't be seeing other episodes for quite some time...

...i don't really have a take on what i saw last night...the style was unique, but i didn't really enjoy it or hate it...

Man, now, I'm a VERY open-minded person. I really, seriously enjoyed Hamtaro for a couple months there. I still play Mario. I plan on renting Kingdom Hearts very soon. The taunts of a franchise being "Kiddy" or "Weird" or "Stupid" or "Homosexual" mean very little to me. I welcome new and weird things, and I like, at least to some extent, everything I've ever seen on ASC sans Baby Blues and ....

THIS DEMON WHICH CAME VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING ME GAUGE MY EYES OUT

Ok, so I saw the previews for it and it looked pretty frightening. Same happened to me the first tiem I saw DBZ, same happened with Hamtaro, I like/liked both of them, for two examples...so I decided to watch it anyway...

Ergh... well, the graphics weren't that bad. Through the whole thing I think they were a lot smoother and more colorful than BUM...but that's where the good stuff ends. What music I remember was painful, and the "plot" was ...not there. It was something that only a child could have possibly understood, or someone whose brain is impaired heavily in some way..

Man, considering how "hippy-ish" most the characters were and how "interesting" the "story" was, I seriously believe that either the last 24 hours have been one of my strange dreams or whoever created that was under the influence of SOME foreign substance..

This special was horrible!

Just like Hamtaro had no place on Toonami, The Groovenians had no place on Adult Swim. Thank all things in the universe that it was just a one-timer! And I agree with you, Spookmonkey: I think Toon Zone's review of this special was terribly inaccurate.

Groovians are a special. Not a weekly thing. It from what I've heard was never meant to be a weekly series. I'd rather watch a baby blues marathon than the groovians again.

Minor correction. Groovenians has no place anywhere. I can't see what target audience there would be. Anywhere. Ever.

Unfortunately, I saw it. AUGGH!

It was the worst television show I'd ever seen. Yes, worse than Baby Blues. What the hell was that crap?! That didn't even belong on televison, let alone CN, let alone ASC. I'm relieved that it won't ever be coming back (I hope).

They target audience was stoned hippies that like pretty flashing colors, and pictures of warped reality.
