For best animated film, Pixar's "The Incredibles,'' distributed by Disney, DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.'s "Shark Tale'' and the company's "Shrek 2'' were nominated. As expected. Wink

And if "Shark Tale" wins, the world will end. Guaranteed. Razz

I think the Incredibles will win because it looks like a good movie. I like Shrek 2 as well but, I'm rooting for The Incredibles.

Shrek 2 was lame... a pale shadow of the first, and entirely unorigional

I think Shrek 2 might win, but the relatively unknown and mysterious "Gouf in the Shell" could pull off an upset. An amazing story of Gouf. In a shell. Avoiding being strapped to things. A true work of art that the Academy can't NOT notice.

I really think something's wrong in a world where shear crap like Shark's Tale gets nominated, and not something as brilliant as GitS2 or Steamboy, or taht one Indian film whose name I can't remember. Sad times...

If it had been dubbed, it might have had a better shot (I felt the same way about Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers). Still a bit pretentious, though.

or Steamboy

Will be eligble to compete for next year's Oscar nominations

Lack of nomination self-explanatory... Wink

Hopefully, a prelude of things to come...

Superhero saga "The Incredibles" sweeps Annie Awards

Associated Press

GLENDALE, Calif. - It was an incredible night for "The Incredibles."

The Pixar Animation Studios superhero film swept the 32nd annual Annie Awards on Sunday.

The movie, about a family of superheros who save the day - and their family in the process - won top honors for best animated feature, best directing and best voice acting for Brad Bird, the film's director who voiced the diminutive seamstress Edna Mode.

The film was distributed by The Walt Disney Co.

The Annie Awards are presented by The International Animated Film Society to honor outstanding animation in television and film. Winners, including last year's "Finding Nemo," have typically gone on to win the Academy Award for best animated feature.

In the voice acting category, Bird beat Antonio Banderas, who provided the voice for Puss in Boots in the DreamWorks Animation film "Shrek 2." He also edged out Samuel L. Jackson, who was nominated for his voicing of the cool superhero Frozone in "The Incredibles."

The film also took awards for writing, production design and music for the throbbing score composed by Michael Giacchino.

Two of the Annie nominees for best theatrical feature - "The Incredibles" and "Shrek 2" - are nominated for an Oscar for best animated film at the Feb. 27 Academy Awards.

Among the other winners on Sunday were Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants" for best animated television production, and actress Brittany Murphy for giving voice to the character "Luane" in the Fox TV show "King of the Hill."

Unfortunately, so will Howl's Moving Castle. And considering that Howl will be easy for Disney to do an ad blitz on and attract people (mainly due to the fact that the story is Western in origin)...you do the math.

Wouldn't bother me one bit.

Same here, but at the same time, Steamboy is deserving too.
