Post subject: Doozy Bots (Scarier than, um...scary stuff.)
If you thought Saban's Sailor Moon pitch was frightening enough to guarantee DiC the right to do a proper dub, well, it turns out that another Toonami show (and probably, an entire franchise) almost suffered the same fate. And I'm not talking about DBZ.
If you hated SD Gundam from a few years back, you should be grateful that that version of the series aired.
Yes, you heard me. YOU SHOULD BE GLAD IT AIRED, because it could've been much worse and more frightening.
Back in 1990 (yes, SD was conceived THAT long ago), before any attempts of Gundam were considered to be brought to American audiences, Sunrise pitched a pilot called Doozy Bots (the localized title given to the series) to several networks. Luckily, the series was never greenlit and the Gundam franchise as we knew it was saved from what could've been a cheesy Americanized future.

...You guys are being too hard on it. While I can't figure out why Sunrise would ever make something like that, it didn't look THAT bad... And compared to the cartoons we get now (with a few exceptions, W.I.T.C.H. comes to mind as one of the better made ones, as does the Boondocks), it looks pretty good.
EDIT: And it probably would've been better than the SD Gundam from a few years ago. Anything beats Captain Gundam and his being authorized to carry a weapon. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.
