One of the many great things that seperate us from the lobsters and terrorists is our ability to retain an infinite amount of useless trivia. Watch the Game Show Network and some afternoon/daytime TV and watch hundreds of average Joes and Joettes answer questions that will get them NOWHERE in life.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Post a useless nugget of truth here for our mass consumption, and help the TDA/Infolink community become no better for it.
I'll start...

Potato Chips were invented when a man sent his fried potato slices back to the chef complaining that they were too thick.
The chef then sliced the potato insanely thin in spite.
...and a fatty comfort food was born!

The term redneck originally came from the civil war. After the war, the land in the south was left practically destroyed. Since the slaves were freed, slave owners were forced to grow their own crops. Since many of them lacked the knowledge of crop growing, they began to eat the dirt from their fields. Dirt is somewhat healthy to an extent (it has minerals, lithium being the biggest), but eating too much dirt is very unhealthy and a side effect cause the back of their necks to turn red.

English is taught in Russian schools beginning in third or fourth grade, so most citizens speak at least some English. Interestingly, Russia has more teachers of the English language than the U.S.A. has students of Russian.

Vegetable oil can be used in a pinch as diesel fuel. Smells a lot better too.

Scorpions glow under ultra violet lights. The cause is unknown.

All the Krispy Kreme donut stores collectively could make a doughnut stack as high as the Empire State Building in only 2 minutes.

And now for the simpsons quote

Coca Cola classic's recipe was changed slightly after the New Coke fiasco.
High Fructose Corn Syrup was used increasingly more than sugar.

In fact, in most markets, the only time you can get "true" Coca Cola with sugar (minus the cocaine) is around passover when bottlers make "Kosher Coke". You can recognize it by the encircled "K" symbol.

If you urinate when swimming in a South American river, you may encounter the candiru. Drawn to warmth, this tiny fish is known to follow a stream of urine to its source, swim inside the body, and flare is barbed fins. It will remain firmly embedded in the flesh until surgically removed.

If the government has no knowledge of aliens, then why does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles?

Just to answer spooks I think it was to keep the spread of an extraterrestrial diseases that may spread from any eventual contact. The law, I think, also applies to anything that falls to earth from space such as a satellite or a meteor.
