Since the Zeta Gundam box set sold well enough for Bandai to release it on stand alone DVDs, what do you think the chances are of AS airing it in 2006? CN's already aired nearly every Gundam series/movie released in the U.S.(except for F91, and the subtitled Gundam 0079 movies), so it would make some sense to continue the trend, don't you think? Having seen all 50 episodes, Zeta's a much darker series than SEED, so it would fit in quite well with the rest of the AS lineup. I apologize if a topic like this was already started on this forum. I searched the forum and couldn't find one, so please refrain from pelting me with various fruits/insults.

Nobu or someone will probably give you a more detailed answer, but the short answer is: old school (anything) on AS (and sadly, CN in general) = teh suck for ratings. Even though Zeta is a good show. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Unfortunately, that does seem to be the case. It's pretty sad, though, considering how much better Zeta is than SEED(then again, any UC Gundam series is better than SEED, in my opinion). Speaking of SEED, I seem to remember reading about a Newtype Japan(or Gundam Ace) article that referred to SEED(before it was known as SEED, that is) as a remake of First Gundam. It makes sense, considering how similar some of SEED's characters are to Gundam's(Murdock=Ryu, Kira=Amuro, Tolle=Hayato, Miriallia=Fraw Bow, etc...).

well i think zeta did better because of all the religous fans, rather than a broad appeal, i mean i loved it, but i cant see a lot of people getting into the series.

Bandai wants all their Gundam shows on Toonami. Sorry to break the bad news, but Bandai wants to make their Gundam franchise as marketable as possible not just on television, but with toy lines as well. Since when do you sell toys (which are, like cartoons, "for kids") with an adult block and audience?
Also, compared to Toonami, Gundam gets horrible ratings on Adult Swim, as 2002 has demonstrated for the network. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

The ratings for Gundam on AS sucked because it was shown at like 1:30 in the morning, although I agree that Zeta Gundam doesn't belong on AS because Toonami is made for a Gundam audience.

Yeah, that does seem to make sense, Daikun. Leave SEED and Destiny for Toonami, and leave the darker series on DVD. It makes one wonder what Gundam series might be next for Toonami, though. Isn't Gundam X a dark series as well? Turn A Gundam's probably out of the question, too. What about Double Zeta...nah, that gets darker towards the latter half of the series(besides the fact that it wouldn't make sense without Zeta).

i dont think that gundam X is any darker than wing, although Gundam X's ending really made me mad.

I would ask why the ending made you mad, but I don't want to spoil it for myself(or anyone else). I'll just have to wait until 2008 or whenever Gundam X is released in the U.S.

Well that'll happen when you cancel a show a few episodes short of the originally planned number. Three cheers for hasty conclusions! _________________ Rycel's Death Count on this board: 7

Yes it should be on Adult Swim but they're not smart enough to put it on _________________ [adult swim] Whacktion plays lame shows like Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist and Samurai Champloo.

That's a shame. Ah well, maybe ZZ Gundam will come out on DVD this year.
I hope Bandai isn't retconning ZZ due to the recent Zeta movie trilogy that changed a major plot point.

I'm glad they at least came out with the Chapters cause there was no way in hell I was buying that box.
Still, they're always playing the same damn, sorry shows, every week it's Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist, Inuyasha. _________________ [adult swim] Whacktion plays lame shows like Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist and Samurai Champloo.
