While I was doing pretty much nothing, sitting around watching tv and listening to music, this movie/special/i don't know: 8:00 p.m.
See All Showings Party Wagon ... If any of you happened to see this.. they said "The fall killed him" over and over and over (I could type those two words for hours...) Then Toonami says shit like "destory" and lame shit when most of the shows on there are naturally violent... That fucking annoys me to my limit... How is it possible for lame shit like that to have more "mature" content than shows that are more suited for it?...

ah, I never knew that... But no matter what it was "meant" for, it was on last night at a time when anyone could watch it without any problems... Still pisses me off...

Also, because it was originally intended for older audiences is has less strict editing standards unlike toonami which (until it's move in april) is intended for 6-11 year olds

I have a hypothesis: There's a scorecard somewhere that every show has to meet or beat (like golf), with points ticked for violence, language and the like. Since the shows on Toonami are "naturally violent", then certain words like "kill", "die", "murder" etc. are changed or removed to bring the score down so actual video edits can be avoided. This is not counting things that would be cut out by BS&P anyway, such as excessive blood, smoking, drug use, guns to the head, swords to the gut, et al.
Now I have no proof that this is what actually goes on, but it's not far off from the practices of some of those "watchdog" groups that stir up OSMA and make advertisers uncomfortable.
It's just one possible explanation, nothing more.

they actually stopped that last year when both kenshin and yu yu hakusho premeired on the block (possibly cyborg 009 as well, can't really remember)...still, i know what you mean, and the lame dialogue changes on outlaw star still haunt me from time to time ("i must get him!")

It's not just Toonami it's anime on US television in general except for Adult Swim (but even it gets edited anime from time to time).

American shows get away with a lot more... I mean look at TMNT compared to all the Fox Box animes.

It's quite a double standard.

I hope Toonami starts breaking those down when the change happens.

the fox box thing is this. shows that are made for a block (like TMNT) are created with the editing standards in line, so it has a chance to actually push the standards whereas anime is bought, brought over, then chopped up to meet the guidelines that the editor sees fit.
