At the San Diego Comic-Con this week, Funimation revealed to Toon Zone that Crayon Shin-chan will receive a test run on Adult Swim in August. Funimation had licensed the series earlier this year. While there is an already existing English language dub produced by Phuuz Entertainment, Funimation will be creating its own dub for this release. Crayon Shin-chan began airing on Japanese television 15 years ago and it continues to premiere new episodes to this day.

Original story at Toon Zone.

Series info courtesy of ANN.

Fan site with a general overview and introduction to the series.

Couldn't they just ask nicely to ADV to borrow a couple of their shows?

I've never heard of this series before.

But it looks just as bad as Naruto with the number of intros/outros it has. >_<

Wasn't Milk Chan on loan from ADV? I could've lived without that.

If you can't wait for it to hit TV, FUNimation's official site has a little taste.

I just watched the premiere tonight, and I can safely say that it's definitely better than Milk-chan by lightyears.

My only gripe is that the animation is crap. If they cleaned it up a bit, this would be the perfect series for Adult Swim.

Yeah, I liked it as well. The world could use more hilarious dubs from Funimation (as in funny, not horribly lame). If you haven't checked it out yet, Desert Punk's dub is along the same lines (with a bit more adult humor).
Here's hoping Adult Swim doesn't give Shinchan the axe. As for the whole animation quality bit, it is a 14 year old show. Besides that, it probably wasn't done with a typical Gundam sized budget. Schizophrenia!

Riiiiiight, because Tom Goes to the Mayor, 12 Oz. Mouse, Space Ghost, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sea Lab 2021, and a whole SLEW of others are PINNACLES of animation quality.

Over the last week I have caught about 4-5 eps of Shin-chan. And to be honest I thought it was pretty good. I think this show is what you would get by throwing South Park and Azumanga Daioh into a blender.

Today I had the pleasure of attending Virginia's Anime USA 2006 where FUNimation voice actress Catlin Glass confirmed that Shin Chan's test run was indeed successful and the series will again be airing on Adult Swim in the future.
