No contest...
Carmen a super-sneak, but thats about all...it's really all the other crooks you run into that give you trouble...
Now Lupin, he's got the super-sneakeyness, but he's got guns...and connections...and his posse....yeah....

I mean, come on, anyone with Jigen on their side would kick butt...

Whose to say Carmen won't kidnap Ligen and Goemon? What then?

*thinks*

That might be good.

She's a sneak, but that's not going to do her any good and you know it! She doesn't leave a trail, and THAT would definately draw attention.

They are both the best in the world. They draw attention for that reason alone. I just want to pit Lupin vs Carmen one on one.

::Cracks knuckles:: A'ight, part one...

Why Lupin would win over Carmen:

Carmen Sandiego is a very versed crook with a thousand henchmen, and everyone knows it. She had a TV show honoring her abilities in thievery and cunning. Arsene(sp?) Lupin the III has been honored as the Prince of Thieves himself and hails from a long line of them. He also had (or has) a TV show displaying his feats of do. Problem one for Carmen: Poor Judgment in people. In her show, young people actually followed her henchmen and attempted to catch her after them. Sure, they never caught Carmen, but they followed. In Lupin's show, Zennigatta follows out of pure dumb luck (not reasoning skills), but never catches Lupin either. So since neither of them get caught, but Carmen's henchmen get caught, point for Lupin.

I think there's little doubt that Lupin III would beat Carmen Sandiego. The two have very different styles. See, Carmen Sandiego is good at hiding, but she always leaves a trail to follow. Once you get to her, she's as good as caught.

Not so with Lupin. Zenigata is by no means an inept detective. He's also a moderately effective commander. Despite being able to find Lupin, and having superior numbers, Lupin always manages to escape.

So, both are of approximately equal skill at acquiring the goods, but only Lupin gets to keep them. By these rights, he will always beat out the Mysterious Chick in Red.

If you remember, Carmen would deliberately leave a trail for the two kids to follow (who were aparently detective prodigy's w/ a super computer) she would allow them to get close only to then escape. It was part of the game for her. Zenigata on the other hand was able to keep on Lupin's trail yes through some domb luck but he must have had some skills and plenty of resources to do what he did. There was many a time where Lupin was suprised at Zenigata but he was quick minded enough to also escape in the end.

Personally I can see Carmen and Lupin in endless conflict stealing items from each other and back again forever.

Oh, yeah, I forgot you only got the henchpeople. I agree with Anromaton's assessment of their equality.

Omake, anyone?

Lupin vs. the DBZ version of Oolong? No contest. Oolong is not a big enough character in Z. He does almost nothing. Now, if it were the original Oolong, we'd have a fight on our hands. Or a discussion. One of the two.
