Thank God, I did not take one.

If I had a choice between lighting my shorts on fire or taking an ap test, I would take the first one.

greenbird thats one of the worst comparison type thingies I've seen yet. AP Tests aren't that bad. You wouldn't be in the class unless you got up its approximate level. So if you're more willing to light your shorts of fire than to take a stupid test I feel sorry for you.

ring any test on at any time. I'll take it no problem.

Passing it on the otherhand...

Speaking of comparison to tests to other stuff, how hard are these tests exactly? I mean if I can get post-high school for the Stanford-9 and pass all three AIMS tests on the first try then I wonder how hard the AP tests could be.

I didn't study for the AP Eng test I took and I probably got a 4 or a 5. I didn't study at all for the AP US History test and I probably got a 3 or a 4. The score is out of 5. 5 being the best. Depending on the Exam and the college,, you may need a 3 or better to get credit, or you may need a 5.

If you're smart enough to get into the class, then you are probably smart enough to get a 3, easy. It's basically just an exam on that years material, only you can get like 1/4 of the points off and still get the top score (no word of a lie.) So the difficulty is offset by the fact that you don't need to get 100% correct in order to get the top mark (and thus college credit).

Look, some people like taking tests. They just piss me off. I mean, they are long, (i finish them in 5 min.) and annoying.

Well, they're quite a bit more universal and accepted (as I have heard of none of the tests you just mentioned). As far as difficulty goes, they are gnerally a little harder than most final exams for their equivelant college course finals.

Ugh...AP scares me and there's not a chance of me getting into any of them.

Honors Classes are easy though and I think a little better than AP. Because they ive you extra High School Credit that really helps your GPA. Due to the "incident" last year, I had pretty much missed or failed most of my finals and ended up with a nice little 1.6GPA for my freshman year. Now, through a year of agonizing torture I've managed to bring it all the way up to a 2.6 Still not qualifying me for any of the AP classes or pretty much any club kinda thing. That freshman year shall forever hold me back in life. ARG

Thank God I managed to get into both Chemistry Honors and American History Honors next year....even though i didn't really have the full requirements for either ^^

you want a gpa that would hold you back? due to the skill of my not caring about school I was able to pull a .4 gpa one year. FOR A YEAR.

I pulled it up to a 3.0 by the end of my senior year though. Frickin hell that took some work. Wait no, no it didn't. Zechs if you do well next year you'll be fine for senior year which shouldnt be spent in AP classes anyway. In your senior year you should be taking shit like pottery, silk screening and other kinds of lazy electives.

I still remember my senior year. first semester consisted of rop animation, british lit, rop drafting, web design, rop screen printing, civics. second was about the same except replace civics with economics and web design with computer graghics. Man that was a sweet sweet year.

Remember this everyone, and it is fairly important: AP IS WORTHLESS AND A WASTE OF TIME. Not all schools will acknowledge your AP credits and they really just tend to screw with your schedule and make graduating more awkward.

I'm taking Video Production, Creative Writing, and Comedy and Satire next year, in addition to AP Eng, Calc, and Chem. Half fun, half semi-work. I say semi-work because I haven't actually put an effort into anything school related since . . . I can't remember when. I honestly don't know what it's like to reach the brink of my potential. I've always lacked the motivation.

I will admit that AP classes aren't for everyone. However, they aren't all studying. My AP Lit class did a lot of discussion of great works of literature. It was exactly what I wanted. Plus, though some don't, most colleges take AP credits. If I did as well as I think I did, I could finish my freshman year in one semester. Plus, at least in my school district, they'll be giving more GPA weight to AP than Honors starting next year. AP is not worthless.

...So if I had a 2.8 GPA for two and a half years at the semester, and assuming I get a 2.5 for just this semester, how high would my GPA be for all four years at the end of next year, assuming 3.5 for both semesters?

I didn't need to go beyong college algebra for math at my school. I don't even think our teacher knew calc. Basicly unless you're going into a field that actually uses that shit which I think is scientist and mathmagician-- and thats all-- higher math is utterly useless, hell algebra is useless. I say the same thing for science. Basicly the only reason to beyond something like geometry is if you trully enjoy doing it. In which case you need a savage beating, well with math anyway.

I don't know, there appears to be this one type of career that uses it a lot, but I just can't remember. Something to do woth making the world go round and having millions of people that do it. Oh yeah, Engineering.
AG, that depends on how many AP classes you took, and it's different for each district. In our school district, you get +.025 to your final weighted from each AP or Honors class for up to 4.7. I think the knew way will give +.05 for AP classes, and add a possibility of an additional .3 to your final weighted GPA. It's all a little over contrived. I personally think that an honors class should count for an extra .5 grade point and an AP class, an extra point.
