I'm assuming the blue ones are "non-canon"?

You've got to remember we're dealing with 3 separate shows that, at best, are loosly related.

The blue one should be considered canon too because HG deemed them worthy of actually being branded. Just because they've never bothered making a show doesn't mean that it's not a valid part of continuity.

Some of them take the story in completely different directions, and contridict each other. I'm not saying they're bad- I enjoyed some of the comics from Antarctic and the three "extra" novels (19-21). It should also be noted that for some reason, Palladium's RPG books (the first five) are considered canon, despite some things that don't go with the current canon.

Revising past work isn't uncommon- look at George Lucas and Star Wars. The whole Boba Fett thing, the combatants in the Clone Wars, the fall of the Emperor's statue (read X-Wing #6: Iron Fist for more on that, then watch RotJ Special Edition, then DVD version), etc. Just believe what you want to. As they said in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back- "...fictional characters!"

What different directions does it take them in? If anything the books flesh out the characters more than any show could. And I wasn't talking so much about 19-21 since they are recent, but more about the Sentinels series. 1-18 came out almost simotaneously with the show(s) IIRC.

Ok i just checked amazon to and it was 18 for end of the circle. 1987?! I was given book 1 as a gift when it was released and at 15 i was always checking with the book stores for when the rest were coming out. Man i was young and impressionable.

Actually i think i want to go back and find the old gundam novels. Those introduced me to the gundam worlds that wouldnt revisit until i saw Wing many years later.

But it looks like the robotech books arent done yet. And this may be what hes counting for the 25.

From the Stars is a graphic novel, containing the first seven comic books from Wildstorm, released from 2002-2003. I suspect graphic novels don't count as full novels in this situation.
