SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Apple Computer took a step forward in cementing its lead in the digital music player market with a deal Thursday to have Hewlett-Packard put its name on music players based on Apple's iPod technology.
The partnership, announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas calls for H-P (HPQ: news, chart, profile) to begin selling branded music players this summer that would, in effect, be iPods with the H-P name on the package. H-P also said it will ship its H-P Pavilion, Media Center and Compaq Presario desktop and notebook consumer computers with preinstalled versions of Apple's iTunes jukebox software and an icon that points them to the iTunes online music store.

good thing is you know HP will make the HPod much more compatible with pc's. Depending on the price, I might get one.
