Right Stuf updates for 01/19/2005:
FUNimation upcoming release:
Sakura Taisen: Ecole de Paris OVA - $29.95 - 07/05/2005
More Media Blasters listings, which are fun because MB just likes to surprise everybody by not giving prior notice of their release schedule...
So if you haven't already picked up Shura no Toki Vol. 1 (and why wouldn't you? ), there's a special edition Vol.1 + Box releasing March 15, 2005 for $39.95. Of course before that, Shura no Toki Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on February 22, 2005. This of course pushes Shura no Toki Vol. 3 back to April 12, 2005. And as listed in my previous post, Shura no Toki Vol. 4 is still set for May 10, 2005.
More Media Blasters madness:
Gokusen Vol. 3 - 100 minutes - $29.95 - 03/01/2005 Giant Robo Vol. 3 - 110 minutes - $24.95 - 03/29/2005 Giant Robo: Ginrei Special - 100 minutes - $24.95 - 04/12/2005 Shrine of the Morning Mist (Asagiri no Miko) Vol. 2 - 100 minutes - $29.95 - 02/22/2005 Shrine of the Morning Mist Vol. 3 - 100 minutes - $29.95 - 04/26/2005 Fight! Iczer One OVA - 100 minutes - $19.95 - 04/12/2005 Sadmitsu the Detroyer Complete Collection - 250 minutes - $29.95 - 04/26/2005
And to top it all off- the Invader Zim Complete Series Boxset has been pushed back to April 12, 2005.
:added later: But wait, there's more! This time the info comes from Anime on DVD:

Speaking of laziness, here's the weekly cut & paste from various Anime DVD news sites...
Appleseed LE Goes Metal: According to updates around various retailers, it appears that the two limited edition versions of the Appleseed release will be in a metal box. According to Geneon rep Andrew Huang, "Both the Limited Collector's Edition and the LCE with figure are in a steel case, yes. The regular edition will be in a plastic case with an O-sleeve."
DearS Anime Licensed; Preliminary release details: According to the current issue of "Anime Insider" Magazine, Geneon Entertainment has licensed and will be releasing the DearS TV series. Furthermore, according to Geneon rep Andrew Huang's posting at AoD's forums, it's stated that the first volume of DearS is likely to be released in the late summer. The 13 episode series will be released over 4 discs with a MSRP of $24.98 each, also a version of the first volume will be available with a box to hold all four volumes.
CPM May Re-Releases: Central Park Media has announced a number of lower priced re-releases for May 24th. They will be re-releasing Alien 9 and the Alien 9 Ultimate Collection set for $19.95 and $39.95 respectively, Angel Sanctuary for $19.95, and a couple of other titles I dare not list here. In each case this is a $10 drop in price compared to their previous releases, except the Alien 9 Ultimate collection set, which is cut by $20.
Cowboy Bebop REMIX to include Session 0 and Other New Features: Also according to the latest issue of "Anime Insider" magazine, Bandai Entertainment will be releasing Cowboy Bebop REMIX, a new Cowboy Bebop special edition, starting this summer.
REMIX will feature a completely remixed and remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound and remastered video under the direction/supervision of Shinichiro Watanabe. REMIX will include new extras such as interviews with the US voice actors and actresses, collections of trailers, promos, the Session 0 extras (Japanese Interviews witht he staff and cast, story digest of the second half of the series, Tank music videos) and more.
REMIX will be released over six-discs with the release schedule tba.
Tokyo Pig DVD Release: Walt Disney will be releasing "The Best of Tokyo Pig" on DVD June 7th for $19.99.
Media Blasters Releases for June: Thanks to ANN for the info, and check it out, CZ!
Right Stuf New Title Solicitation: Getting their bit of Gonzo going once again, Right Stuf has put up some new release information on their site. (And the sooner they finish this series, the sooner I'll get my Tylor Ultra - N.):
Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars Vol. #2 - 125 minutes - $29.95 - 05/31/2005

First, let me get a little old business out of the way...
Viz New Title Solicitations: Proving to be something of a disappointment, Viz is continuing their three-month release window between volumes for their latest series to hit DVD:
No further details of the release are available yet, but it looks like "Box 1" will be DVD's 1 & 2 bundled with the bonus DVD, like ADV's earlier release of the Robotech: Collector's Edition.
Old Schoolers and Toonami veterans will remember various parts of Gatchaman as the series G-Force (Toonami), Eagle Riders (Saban) and Battle of the Planets (1970's TV syndication, Boomerang and The Anime Network).
:edit: Received corrected information regarding the running time on each disc. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

No list of classic toons from the '80s could be complete without including Danger Mouse, which first aired in the U.K. courtesy of Cosgrove/Hall Productions. It later came to the USA, and most people in the States were exposed to it via its run on Nickelodeon. The title character was a secret agent, who was assisted in his adventures by the clumsy but ever-helpful Penfold. Both reported to Commander K., a walrus who issues their assignments.
Back in April, 2004 it was widely reported that Freemantle had made a deal to license the entire Thames library of properties to A&E for eventual release in North America, and Danger Mouse was among the properties named. Now the folks at the fansite ClubDM has been reporting for a while now that Danger Mouse is on the way to DVD, per correspondence they've had with A&E.
We only just now found out about it thanks to recent e-mails from readers like Andy Fanton and Eric Janssen, who provided specific information about the fansite and what's been said there. Eric was very help, telling us that we would see Danger Mouse Seasons 1 & 2 (16 half-hours) on May 31st. We called A&E for ourselves and double-checked to be certain: yes, May 31, for a 2 disc set. We were told that the details of the project hasn't been completely finalized yet, though, so no word on price or stuff like bonus features at this time. But we should hear more soon, so stay tuned! Our thanks to Andy, Eric, and the folks at ClubDM for the heads-up.
Geneon Anime Music New Title Solicitations: Only one new listing so far for July, but it's an interesting one that's not entirely unexpected:

Well, it's not exactly anime, but...
Quote:
ROCK & RULE
Dir. Clive A. Smith
Look at what the cat dragged in. Rock and Rule baby! All I have to say is AMAZING! A cult animation classic like no other. Rock and Rule has been out of print since 1985 when it was released on video format. The release was small and the price tag was expensive so it never enjoyed the release it should have received. Well, we plan on giving it the full treatment. Fully restored, anamorphic, 5.1 surround sound and enough extra's to make your head spin. We also picked up the 28 minute animated special Devil & Daniel Mouse where the actual story and characters came from. We're tracking down the director for an audio commentary for the DVD which should make the DVD a wonderful viewing experience.
What? What did you say? What is it about? Oh almost forgot, sorry. Sometimes I get ahead of myself. The story is about Angel, a member of a punk rock band in the apocalyptic future. She is kidnapped by Mok, a legendary superocker that's a cross between David Bowie and Alice Cooper. Mok dabbles in the satanic supernatural and he is trying to unleash a demon to destroy the world. To do this Mok needs Angel's voice to summon the demon from another dimension. Angel's boyfriend and her friends in the band are desperately trying to save her from Mok's evil clutches. That's all I can say without spoiling it for you. The animation is tight and some say it's even better then Heavy Metal. An awesome cult classic that we are very proud to release. This is the 1st film in our Red Blood Cel line. We hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more from Red Blood Cel.
Oh I almost forgot. For you die hard Rock and Rule fans out there. Don't miss the Limited Double Disc Set we will be releasing at the same time. This limited DVD set will have both versions of Rock and Rule on it. The rare Canadian version with extra scenes and alternate voices.
Best line from a Cartoon Cartoon: "Sometimes love hurts, Pud'n. And I love you very much."
