Media Blasters has announced their DVD specs and a May 11, 2004 release date for the first of three volumes of the Invader ZIM DVD Collection.
Volume One will include seven episodes (five shy of the complete first season -- click here to view the list) as well as the unaired ZIM pilot episode featuring the voice of Billy West (Futurama, Ren & Stimpy) as ZIM, with commentary by ZIM creator Jhonen Vasquez. Other features include episode commentary by a dozen cast/crew members, and a featurette with interviews and "other strange footage" (according to the official site).
Media Blasters is asking ZIM fans to submit questions for the cast/crew interviews via e-mail at askzim@media-blasters.com.
Also, on an important side note, Media Blasters says that "all 27 episodes" will be included on DVD once all three volumes have been released. Furthermore, they "intend to have every episode uncut and edited the way Jhonen wanted it," and report that Nickelodeon is cooperating in providing the Christmas episode uncut. Additionally, unfinished episodes (beyond the 27 completed episodes) will be included, probably presented in animatics since only the voice recording had been completed.

Q. Will it have subtitles(captions)? Will it include subtitles for any languages?
This has still not been determined but we would like to include english and spanish language captions. Please check the release info page soon with all the details on the release.
So, Nobu, if all goes well, you should be able to experience the wonder that is Gir. Though it might loose some effect if you cna't actually HEAR it. But it's better than nothing. ^_^ _________________ anime is teh s uck

When they aired the show on nick, they had to censor it from the way the creator wanted it to be (if you've seen Johnny the homocidal maniac, you'd know why). These will be closer to his original intention.

I saw the lost picture of the blood covered Gir.
Don't know why it was edited. It was such cute blood . . .
And there was one episode where Zim gets lost in the city and the joke is that he ends up in Mexico, but they said it was racist (Even though Vasquez IS Mexican . . . idiots) so he changed it to a Disco place and it made no sense so they added dancing rats (cuz "dancing rats are always comedy. Unless they're not funny." - Vasquez)
And a bunch of other goodness was edited out. Half of it for the DUMBEST reasons. _________________ anime is teh s uck
