Kind of interesting, Deus ex Machina, also means the 'god from the machine', in the case of Big O this could be taken from the name Mega Deus.
They are a sort of 'machine god' in that they are the highest of they're kind, in one way the gods of the machines, an odd way to think about it but it does work.

I was too lazy to remeber the meaning of Deus ex Machina so i decided to include it and hope someone else knew. The orign I know is from ancient Greek Theater, where the main character would be in an inescapable situation but they didn't want to end the play with death so a type of flying chariot of some sort would come in and save the character(s) from certain death. Kinda like super heroes or the awesome Big O.

From the credits, Steven Blum does the voice for Roger Smith. It really doesn't make a difference, as he sounds just like David Lucas. Heck, I couldn't even tell it was a different voice actor until I read the credits. I believe he also did the voice for Hakaider, although I'll have to check ANN to be sure. By the way, tonight's episode was AWESOME!

Boy, I sure feel like a stooge. Steven Jay Blum IS David Lucas. The fact that he didn't use the same name as he did for season 1 threw me off.

I went to go have Big O recorded at midnight and went "Oh crap its on in 10 minutes". Shut everything down and sat down.
So who wants to open a review? Im still trying to absorb it all.
The first 10 minutes felt like they had been drawn during season 1 as an ending to the cliffhanger. There were many many things that brought me to that conclusion. And it mostly involves artwork and the aging of the print.

Okay here we go. So Roger has a nervous breakdown and the memories implanted into him by the elder Rosewater awaken at the worst time possible. Roger sees himself in Paradigm city before the end of civilization. The comment about the feel of the hot sun and the lack of the domes was what first made me realize it. You get introuced to the real Dorothy and her father 40 years ago. You see the Bank that is Rogers home. A lot of the memory references from season 1 are all there. But then the attempt at film noir goes a bit to far with the theatre scene. Which felt a little forced. And I miss the butlers original voice. Also we meet Bink as the bank manager.
So roger thinks hes acting. Then is told hes a major and that he doesnt want to awaken it. It being Big O. And in the end he snaps back to reality and finishes the three megaduces off.
If you looked into the one megadeuce you saw the real one inside the shell. This isnt the first time the real mega was hidden inside the shell. Schwartzvald(sp?)'s mummy was the first time we had seen this.
Im still trying to make out the rest of the battle scene in my head. But what keeps coming back to me is O's loss of his arm. I really wasnt expecting that. I wonder if the one that fell off will make a reappearence later in the series since Rosewater sent the MP's out to retrieve the "Foriegn visitors". After last years cliff hanger I was hoping for more of a battle scene with the 3 megas. But thats just me
Oh and if anyone noticed in the paper Roger was reading it talked about "A paradigm shift" being found. So I think it was the biggest hint as to what happened 40 years ago
It really was odd. But it shows a lot of hope for the rest of the series. And I dont feel like waiting over 3 months to watch all 13 episodes. Maybe I will find a way to get them sooner. _________________ Certified Narutard

It all felt low quality and way too confusing for me. And I only saw it because I had nothing to do and just ended up watching CN at 11. Bloody hell they need to advertise times more.
And I had a tape set up to catch Trigun (I've never seen it and am finally getting around to seeing it NOW) and my jackass brother messed up the damn tape. I missed episode 21, which was a CONTINUATION OF EPISODE 20. I'm so pissed it's not funny. _________________ anime is teh s uck

thats okay you can see episode 21 again in about 3 weeks when it reruns.
And I dont know the amount of money spent on Big O 2 versus season 1. But lets give it some time to see if it gets better. Personally it could be SD Big O and I think I would have watched it.
And ask questions if your confused Im sure some of us can help clear it up for you
