Having watched eight episodes of Arjuna via Adult Swim onDemand, I realize the show is basically a combination of every whacked-out environmentalist notion ever conceived.

For instance, we can use science to determine if the food we eat is actually causing us harm. We can determine if genetically modified food is safe or not. We have that capability. The same goes for medicine and preservatives. We don't need any of this Earth spirit nonsense.

Likewise, most of the starvation in the world isn't caused by lack of worldwide food supply. The trouble is getting it to people. Trade barriers and tinpot dictators have more to blame for starvation in Africa than the worldwide supply of food. So, it doesn't matter if first-world nations stop/reduce the production of meat. That saved grain won't get to the people who need it.

I feel a duty to watch this series because it carries the Adult Swim logo. But man, it's really pissing me off. I can't be alone on this.

i gave the first episode a shot when it started up on the ASonDemand...i'll admit that the setup had me intrigued, but i guess it wasn't enough seeing as i haven't even given it so much as a second thought since then...

judging by the activity going about this thread, i'm going to assume i'm not missing much...

I have the series on DVD. Never watched it. Not high on the "to watch" list.

I also have the OST. Gave it a listen. The music was good. Another Yoko Kanno soundtrack.

Which begs the question, why did you buy if it's not on your "To Watch" list.

This is probably one reason:

The whole series was $24. Couldn't pass that up. Bandai's trailer made it look interesting, but trailers often lie.

And as Nobu pointed out, the main reason I bought it was the Yoko Kanno music.

Same thing happened to me with that movie Contact (starring Jodie Foster). The trailer made it seem interesting, but it was a snooze fest. I can't believe I went to a movie theater to see it.

Should've just seen Men in Black a second time.

Contact is one of those rare Sci Fi movies where the Scienctists get to be the hero instead of the local adrenaline soaked badass. I like it.

Yes, I understand the movie is interesting, however what I don't appreciate is being tricked into expecting a completely different movie. If I had randomly stumbled upon Contact on cable one day, I probably would have liked it.

But no, they had to misrepresent it in its trailer.

I want my eight bucks back.

Yeah, totally dissapointing movie. They build it up and build it up and then pull the rug up from under you.

The first hour of the film is entertaining though and Jodie Foster is a great actress.
