Hi, I'm new here, and from what I've been reading, it seems like most everyone here feels exactly the same as me. We want our good shows back. I feel just the same. Here are some of my observations about Toonami for those interested in reading.

My favorite show, well it's close, would probably have to be Gundam Wing. I never liked the ones with the bad illustration, like Yu-Yu-Haksho or whatever, but I did watch that one sometimes. I liked the drawing styles of Gundam Wing and Rouroni Kenshin especially. I know that I will remember that as a classic from my childhood when I grow older. I loved that series, and I'm sure it was raking in the ratings for CN. I liked the old days when they used to play the stupid cartoons, like Scooby Doo, during the day and then switch to Toonami mode from a certain time to another time. Even then I was selective of what shows I watched. I don't see why Gundam was taken off. It was just as popular as DBZ, and DBZ just cycled again and again through the episodes till they finally got a few new ones to show. Gundam was great, and I'll always associate it with the time in my life when I was in 6th grade.

Then there was Rouroni Kenshin. That was good, a little goofy at some times, but very good. It was a lot like Gundam in some ways, Kenshin was pretty badass, sort of like Heero. He even dislocated his own shoulder one time when he was tied up. This drew me in I think, this similarity between the two shows. Toonami really screwed around with Kenshin though. First they had it late in the Toonami block, like 6:00 or something, and then they moved it to like 11:00 without warning. But, eventually that ended and there was really nothing good on. I stopped watching TV so much and started web stuff. There was nothing good about either shows on the web, just the same images and such cycling around the net. I've really stopped watching CN since they basically took Toonami off. What's it now?? Minguzi or something?? That's gay. I guess Toonami's on late at night or something, but I yearn for the good old days Crying or Very sad

So, I downloaded a few movies recently, Endless Waltz and Samurai X, to return to my roots, so to speak. And I guess it's all good now. I'm thinking I could write all the episodes of each cartoon to a DVD or something, but I'd need a DVD writeable drive for that I think.

It seems like Toonami just doesn't understand that people actually like shows and tune in to see the series repeats every once in a while... I get kind of annoyed that DBZ was on before and after Gundam just circling through a segment of the Freeza saga and GW was just aired maybe like 3 times and that was it. Oh well.

And, to finish it off, did any else ever notice how a lot of times in anime the characters are caucasian??

Actually, most of the old guard here disagrees with the wish to return older Toonami shows (for the most part). You're reading that from a lot of the n00b posts.
But unlike most of them, you posted your thoughts very clearly, and above a third grade writing level. We appreciate that greatly. Welcome to the posting side of the board.

In terms of looks, although on DBZ I kind of think that the buzzsaw style hair is supposed to be sort of like the asian style black-hair-with-buzz-cut look... not sure though. But for the most part, the main characters all look caucasian to me...

Or you could, just maybe, buy the damn DVD's.

The dragon Ball universe contains around 500 episode. Gundam Wing contains, if I'm not mistaken, 51.

Thus, it is expected that a universe ten times as long LAST ten times as long. And if you notice, we're still getting Gundam. Just none of them are Wing. Because we've all seen Wing. If CN just aired old stuff over and over, people would stop watching. Even you would eventually stop watching, if only under the opinion that "Oh, it will always be on, I'll just catch it some other time."

Then CN would die because it wasn't making any money.

Then we would have nothing.

I, personally, loved Wing (when it aired, haven't seen it in years) and also loved Kenshin. But I also love seeing new stuff. For example, the current line up on Adult Swim on Saturdays has me captivated for 3 hours. Granted, FLCL and Trigun are old, but if they also included, say, Cowboy Bebop, well, that's one less spot for a new show. And if that new show was Samurai Champloo (I mean, why have two shows by the same guy on?) then I would cry. Tears of sadness.

TEARS OF SADNESS.

Probably, but now we have Adult Swim.
And not every show Williams Street picks up can be a winner. I actually was kind of wary back in the day when they started picking up all the landmark animes (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Gundam Wing, 08th MS Team, etc.) because those would be better spaced out over the years to always have something incredible.

Sorry CP, Gundam Wing only had 49 eps. Honestly, I'd like to see Outlaw Star again due to the fact that I missed half of it during its entire run. But since I'm about to start training at Creative Labs for techsupport, I'll go ahead and buy the boxset. XD
