Seething over taxes and red ink, voters dumped the unpopular Gov. Gray Davis and replaced him with political novice Arnold Schwarzenegger. Davis, the Democrat who presided over California's economy as it careened from boom to bust, was recalled Tuesday less than a year into his second term. With 97 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday morning, the recall was favored by 4,091,181 voters or 54.3 percent, and opposed by 3,437,940 voters or 45.7 percent.
This is 4 years worth of cannon fodder for comedians. Comments?

Who knows, Arnold is a businessman, so he might not have much problem working on California's economic problems.

Us Californians didn't want a career polititian to take us out of this crisis we're in. Business sure as shit aint as usual. We needed a man who could weild a mini-gun.
It really would be funny though if Arnorld still was able to make movies while in office. Can you imagine the premise of Terminator 4 then? The Govenator: Judgement Day. Govenor Conan the Beurocrat.

Dude, you're talkign about the state in which not only have we elected an actor to governer before, but the state that then set that same actor up to become president (Ronnie Regan of course. We also were the ones who elected Sonny Bono to congress. Actors have worked out before for us, we not again?

It was, after all, politicians that got you where you were. It's like plumbers. WHo put those things in in the first place? Who fixes them? And they couldn't get it right? Let me think oif a better example. Say you need open heart surgery...

Right, because you don't live in it just as I don't care about your state because I don't live in it. When a problem is located soley in one state and as long as its not yours you don't need to care. But if the problem starts spreading to other states your concern should be on the rise.

Well, the thing about newcomers to politics is that they tend to try to justify their elections. Take a look at Jesse Ventura in Minnesota. He actually hasn't done a worse job than most of the previous governors. I think Arnold will do well enough in the end.

I think Arnold has the chance to be a great govener. His main problem is trying to please his party while still doing the right thing.
I've read up on his history and he's actually a pretty well together guy. He's set up an entire YMCA style orginization that's done alot of good in the state. N ot to mention he's had the skills to get into dozens of movies even though he can barely act. One main thing he does show is drive, if he sets his mind to a goal wether it be politically or personally he's always managed to come out on top.
and let's not forget that this is also a major plor of the republicans to get a popular guy into office to represent them. They're NOT going to let him fail so cali can rest assured.
