Yeah, this topic is kinda old, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

First off, it's difficult to recommend a single anime to everyone because everyone has their own tastes when it comes to video entertainment. Anime is a very broad entertainment medium, with titles filling the entire spectrum from pre-school children entertainment to young adult targeted shows to straight up hardcore pornographic material. Anime is just like our film and television industry, it has something for everyone.

Now, with that said, I'll offer some personal favorites that didn't appear on "The Infolink Recommends." Maybe others will enjoy these as well.

Berserk
Although it is an aged anime, (nearly 10 years old I think) this is not your typical anime tale. If you're familiar with Kentarou Miura's manga of the same name, you need to check this series out. A word to the wise though, this series is not for the faint of heart. It takes place in medieval Europe and is extreme in both violence and certain plot elements. Also, the anime ends with a cliffhanger, leaving you to reference the manga if you want to see how the story has continued.

Tekkaman Blade
Another oldie, but a classic nonetheless. If you saw the old UPN show Teknoman, then you may already know what this is. This series follows the outline of a transforming superhero who must save the Earth from evil invaders, but you'll see that this series has a much darker tone to it as it progresses. Much like how people saw that Evangelion wasn't just another "giant robot" show by the end of its run, Tekkaman Blade isn't just another superhero here to save the world. Sometimes the hero needs to make personal sacrifices in order to do what is right for the world.

Hellsing Ultimate
For the vampire lovers out there, we have the tale Hellsing. There are actually two versions to choose from out there, but I recommend Hellsing Ultimate over the regular anime because Ultimate is much more faithful to the manga. While it is a violent series, it does have it's lighthearted and comical moments. Something that the original anime booted out the door, leaving only a serious and melancholy tale behind. If you're interested in seeing vampires dueling it out with heavy artillery, and having a few laughs along the way, check out Hellsing Ultimate.

Disgaea
An anime re-imagining of the famous Nippon Ichi tactical RPG, Disgaea offers a comical view of the Prince of the Netherworld as he attempts to claim the throne that is rightfully his. You'll see that demons aren't all that different from people. Some want power, some want fame, others just want to have a good time. The lighthearted tales of the world of Disgaea will show you a side of "hell" you'd never thought you'd see.

Vandread
"Women are monsters, and men need fear for their lives if they should ever encounter the horrors that are women." That's right, differences between the sexes has lead to all out war between men and women. However, things begin to change when a handful of men and a crew of female pirates are flung across the galaxy on a ship powered by unknown technology that only works when the genders work together. Combining elements of giant robot combat, sci-fi space travel, and harem anime comedy, Vandread will offer a new perspective on the battle between the sexes.

I think that's enough for now. Hope you find something you enjoy. Smile
