TVShowsOnDVD.com reports that episodes of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series will be released in April 2004. It is unknown whether they will be "best of" or season sets.

Discuss the news here at the DVD Discussion Forum.

**Update: 1.30.04**

DVDEmpire now has a product listing with the DVD's cover art (tentative?) and additional details: the release date is 4.20.04, and "two never before seen episodes" will be included.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Williams Street alum MC Chris (voice actor, music composer and writer) revealed in an online chat that Sealab 2021 and the second volume of Aqua Teen Hunger Force are coming to DVD this summer.
Chris says he isn't involved in the commentary tracks being recorded for either set, but adds that the "I Want Candy/I Need Candy" song from the ATHF episode, "MC Pee Pants" will be included on the upcoming ATHF DVD release.
To read MC Chris's complete chat transcript, visit chump1039.com.
[Caution: Includes strong adult language]
In related news, ATHF: Volume 1 made amazon.com's "100 Hot DVDs" list in January. Although at the time of this posting it was bumped down to #108, it climbed as high as #77.
TV Shows on DVD reports that a Tokyo Pig DVD is in production, but has no further information regarding a release (presumably through Buena Vista).
TVShowsOnDVD reader O'Niel McLeod wrote in to tell us that way back in November, he e-mailed Rhino to ask them about the status of Beast Wars: Transformers - The Complete 2nd Season. It seems that earlier this week that he finally received a reply:
"The Season 2 Beast Wars DVD boxed set tentatively scheduled for a March 23, 2004 release."
We've contacted Rhino and confirmed: March 23rd is the date. Thanks to O'Niel for the great info! Stay tuned, and we'll have details for you just as soon as Rhino finalized them.
Also Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Tokyo Godfathers for 13th April 2004 with a retail price of $26.96. Sub-titled only. Listed at Right Stuf.
TVShowsOnDVD reader Ed Soper was curious - as many of us are - about what's going on with the follow-up to Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends - Complete Season 1. Ed wrote in to Sony Classic Media to ask about Season 2, and was kind enough to forward his response to us:
Dear Ed,
Thank you for your interest in Classic Media and for your question! Rocky & Bullwinkle Season II has finished pre-production and should enter the manufacturing process later this month. If you liked Season I, your sure to enjoy the 52-show 6-disc Season II - which should be out in October this year. This date is subject to change, so check back to our website for updates as we get closer.
Nice! 6-DVD set, containing 52 episodes, tentatively set for October 2004 (roughly 14 months after the first release). Our thanks to Ed for sharing this with us, and letting us share it with all the other fans out there.
:add: And BAM!
Just as they're doing with the Van Helsing movie, Universal is issuing an animated prequel to their Vin Diesel film, The Chronicles Of Riddick, the sequel to sci-fi shocker Pitch Black, this summer. Retailing for $14.98 and arriving on June 15, The Chronicles Of Riddick: Dark Fury will come with a 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and an inside look at the new theatrical feature.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks to the Internet Movie Poster Awards, we have a chance to see the initial one-sheet teaser poster for DreamWorks' upcoming Shark Tale. Interestingly, the word "theaters" is spelt on the poster as "theatres" - could this be an international poster, with October 1 the UK release date also? Hats off to 'Dalboz' in the Animated News Forums for the link! The IMPs also just posted a new-look Shrek 2 poster too.
