Tom Goes to the Mayor: TOO Weird?

I've watched two episodes of "Tom" and did not finish either. It is just hard for me to watch. AS is on Cartoon Network. The animation of the show is horrible. I may be an old fart and that is why I don't get the humor, but ATHF, Futurma, and Family Guy are on my list of favorite animated shows. "Tom" is weird and I won't watch it.

I honestly don't care about animation, in any show, at all lol I'd watch Clutch Cargo if it were well-written. I actually like the animation in TGTTM. If nothing else, I'd rather a show me easy to make than painstakingly drawn to the point of being limited by it. Look at South Park. Takes them a week to make an episode. They can change something in an episode the day it's going to air. I like that in a show. Efficiency allows for more total product. I'd rather have a hundred episodes of a funny, well-written series made of still images than a hyperkinetic action show with zero characterization that can only go on for 12 episodes before it bankrupts its distributor.

South Park's animation style fits the show. I will argue to the DEATH that South Park has good animation. BECAUSE the style goes really, really well with the substance. South Park is brilliant satire. Sometimes it is just dumb, and sometimes it misses it's mark. But then there are the episodes that are brilliant.

But then you see something like a Miyazaki film and you say "Shitmonkey . . . they can DO that by hand?" Or you see Don Hertzfeldt's latest short, The Meaning of Life and you say to yourself, "Wait, wait, ONE guy drew every single frame of that . . . and NO computers were used at all???" and you see what animation can be.

Everything has it's place.

But there is nothing intriguing, fluid, or painstaking about Tom. It's just stills. Ugly stills.

I can't? I can argue that it's not in three distinct ways. But, lets not go there. Why? Because I'm tired, lazy, and don't feel like starting a fight. So lets just agree that people have their own opinions.

Well, it's realistic in the sense that, say, the graphics in the original Mortal Kombat are realistic lol
