New religions and anarchists- good stuff...

AGreySpectre: http://www.creativemods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1859
AGreySpectre: PH34R TEH L33T JESUS
Akira772: That's not right...
AGreySpectre: but doesnt he look like jesus
Akira772: And that guy looks like an anarchist- what's with all the guys who look like that?!
AGreySpectre is away at 4:14:47 PM.
AGreySpectre returned at 4:14:52 PM.
AGreySpectre: how do you look like an anarchist
AGreySpectre: or did you mean to say antichrist
*****picking up a few minutes later, the middle part was rather boring******
AGreySpectre: im have christian half jewish does that make me a chew or a jewistian
AGreySpectre: but i practice neither and maintain a view of agnostic
Akira772: A "Chew"?
Akira772: You worship Charleston Chews?
Akira772: That's awesome!
Akira772: I want to be part of that!
Akira772: If only for the comic factor, but still...
AGreySpectre: peter it could be the new motto of the Christian church
"Jesus is back and he is one l33t mother fucker"
AGreySpectre: it doesnt work in so many ways
Akira772: Hmm
AGreySpectre: accoring do the christian church, he cant be back, and also how can he be a mother fucker if his mother is a virgin, its so hippicritical its brilliant

*****At the same time, also talking to Zechs...*****
Zechs875: j0
Akira772: Moo.
Zechs875: the new Manga title "Dead Leaves" is streaming today
Akira772: I'm playing Doom 3 on the other computer, so I may be a few seconds between messages...
What's it about?
Zechs875: http://www.dead-leaves.com/
Zechs875: no clue
Zechs875: it's like...fukied up
Zechs875: might as well watch it
Akira772: It... Looks like a cross of FLCL (which sucked BTW) and Reign, which even AS made fun of.
Zechs875: oh
Zechs875: well you tend to dislike popular stuff
Akira772: Uhhh... FMA, Gundam, Macross... I don't dislike those...
Akira772: Quite the opposite...
Zechs875: well you said you didn't like FLCL, or Cowboy Bebop..
Zechs875: which makes me find you odd
Akira772: Dang right. Didn't like EVA much either.
Zechs875: that's wierd
Akira772: Meh
Akira772: My favorite one is Initial D...
Akira772: I suppose that says a lot...
Akira772: http://www.creativemods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1859
Akira772: Does that guy look like an anarchist to you?
Akira772: The one with the headset on
Zechs875: yes
Akira772: I've been thinking... What IS an anarchist? How do you tell who they are?
Akira772: So here's my theory..
Zechs875: o.0
Akira772: Male anarchists tend to be young men in their early twenties; have beards that look like the ones on amish guys, orthodox jews, or that middle eastern jewish guy who people go nuts for today, sometimes more gotee-ish (spellcheck it); tend to dress in trenchcoats, sometimes a bit creepier; they frequent gaming stores; play D&D; are often friends with all types of so-called social misfits (hipsters, goths, hippies, "h4x0rs" (computer nerds, often NOT l337), etc, etc, etc); have girlfriends like them or like one of the previously mentioned catagories hanging on to them all the time; and like Greenpeace.
Zechs875: I've only met one anarchist
Akira772: Then again, what I just said is a theory based on how I see people, and is probably completely false.
Zechs875: he was a 17 year old white guy and at one point had a goatee
Zechs875: and yes did hang out with other social misfits
Zechs875: you should also add
Akira772: Well... Maybe I wasn't all that off...
Zechs875: that the Anarchists are usually at the top of the social misfit pyramid
Zechs875: because they can be anyone they want
Zechs875: and..well just from personal experiance
Akira772: ?
Zechs875: they're usually high ranking
Akira772: Do tell.
Zechs875: they usually are a tad more intelligent in a broad scope and they know about human social dynamics
Zechs875: so they're usually higher up
Zechs875: but at the same time
Zechs875: that one-time anarchist dropped out of high school and now works night at KFC
Zechs875: so they're also unsuccesful
Zechs875: in both thier life and cause
Zechs875: and thus
Zechs875: why anarchism will never happen

ok, so it's long but I included it on account I explain a few of my views as to why some (alot) on anime blows major gerbil ass chunks.

Zechs875: the third season of Rurouni Kenshin sucked
Andromaton: heh
Zechs875: well Third "arc"
Andromaton: which arc was that?
Zechs875: the Christian arc they never aired on CN
Andromaton: I couldn't watch kenshin
Zechs875: they messes with the character designs and added alot more cg
Zechs875: why not?
Andromaton: just found it boring
Zechs875: heh
Zechs875: you and you're overzealous patriotism
Andromaton: that has nothing to do with it
Andromaton: it's a fucking samurai dbz
Zechs875: heh
Zechs875: it's got slow pacing
Zechs875: I'll agree
Zechs875: but i really enjoyed the mood of it alot more than DBZ
Zechs875: Kenshin had good music, really good character designs and a nice backstory
Zechs875: and even though the battles were spaced out they were amazing
Andromaton: look at me and my super sonic energy wave shooting out of my sword just because I'm so good while I'm suposed to be based ina real time period within real eventsreal
Zechs875: energy?
Zechs875: I dont remember them being able to shoot energy
Andromaton: he's shot shit out his sword
Zechs875: o.0 no he didn't
Andromaton: oooooooh yes he did
Andromaton: plus there's the dbz style super speed teleporting
Zechs875: that was Iajitusu
Zechs875: it was real
Zechs875: just exagerated
Zechs875: Iajitsu is the art of swift striking from from the scabbard
Andromaton: that wasn't what it waS
Zechs875: are you talking about the special attacks
Andromaton: probably
Zechs875: where they added the red light around his sword
Zechs875: that wasn't energy shooting out that was just a representation of energ
Andromaton: I don't really remember specifics no more about it
Zechs875: I agree there are some comparisons with dbz
Andromaton: I'm not talking about the story's or characters themselves
Andromaton: those are just boring
Andromaton: to me anyway
Zechs875: the fights would have been udderly boring or unbelievably violent
Zechs875: The OVAs were realistic
Andromaton: I haven't seen those so I dont comment on them
Zechs875: eh
Zechs875: well you seem to find alot of things wrong with anime series
Zechs875: just in general
Andromaton: but I know I wasn't turned off by the series by it's slow storytelling, as I do thouroughly enjoy Witch Hunter Robin which goes at an even slower pace most of the time
Zechs875: see I didn't like Witch Hunter Robin
Zechs875: the ending sucked
Andromaton: I missed the last couple eps
Zechs875: you didn't miss much
Zechs875: I thought it was like 25minutes of blah blah blah
Zechs875: then five minutes of Awesome action
Zechs875: that pisses me off
Zechs875: if it's going to be a drama keep it drama if you're gonna make an action series keep it interesting
Zechs875: Action/Comedy is better than Action/Drama
Zechs875: imo
Andromaton: I think what it is about the animes that I say suck (witht he exceptions obviously being movies) is the idea of giant story arcs with no compartmentalization so give even a minor sense of closer with each one or two episodes
Zechs875: oh
Zechs875: Well I find ending of story arcs
Zechs875: much more satisfying than no ending of any sort in american animation
Andromaton: no no
Zechs875: I try and watch american animation and outside of Bruce Timm or Gendy I cant stand it
Zechs875: Americans are good at comedic animation when it comes to anything else they fall short
Zechs875: ugh..
Zechs875: i'm going into angsty rant mode again
Zechs875: *shuts up*
Andromaton: there can be a giant overall arc, that's fine, they can slowly work on solving that all they want. but sub arcs are just as if not more important in that there is a satisfaction of a sense of closure without there actually being any thus drawing the viewer deeper in. allowing them to then continue watching genreally witht he ability to miss an episode or two with the knowledge they won't come back to being completely out of the loop
Zechs875: oh
Andromaton: [ rant mode preinitiated ]
Zechs875: well I find large story arcs kinda fun
Andromaton: you know, have the one big huge story, but have 3-4 other stories that characters get involved with while dealing with it
Zechs875: oh
Zechs875: give me an example?
Andromaton: it's not anime but beast machines was one
Zechs875: Beast Machines or Beast Wars?
Andromaton: storywise it was the perfect mix between japanese and english story telling
Andromaton: machines
Zechs875: hmm
Andromaton: beast wars didn't so much have the huge overall story
Zechs875: I think I understand
Zechs875: you mean having a final goal like an undefeatable enemy
Zechs875: and going through smaller arcs till they complete that final goal
Zechs875: like an RPG?
Andromaton: GRR, i keep hitting the caps lock
Andromaton: sorta
Andromaton: like inu yasha is probably the closest thing I can think of in anime at the moment
Zechs875: well that's what alot of Kenshin ones..
Zechs875: *was
Andromaton: they got nuraku or whatever as the big baddy, but every couple of eps they got new subplots
Zechs875: hmm
Zechs875: true
Andromaton: kenshin never fealt like it had an overall plot
Andromaton: almost fealt pointless to me
Zechs875: if you want to know what I like in story telling
Andromaton: you never got the sense that he had a huge main villian to defeat
Zechs875: recall the first season of power rangers
Zechs875: I like that type
Zechs875: I like imagining as if the characters have power levels
Andromaton: peperoni pineapple pizza monsters?
Zechs875: and I sorta like predictability
Zechs875: and changes throughout with new characters and powers
Zechs875: and then they end it with a few amazing eps
Zechs875: it's like putting all the emotions you felt in all the previous episodes
Zechs875: and have it climax
Andromaton: see, I think I maybe saw one episode of the original power rangers
Zechs875: the best one was ...PW in space
Zechs875: it was the final series in the original arcs
Andromaton: I never could watch those types of shows
Zechs875: It tied in all the events of all the previous series into one climactic battle
Zechs875: like bringing and end to 5 or 6 years of eps
Zechs875: that was amazing
Zechs875: for some reason i got really into that
Zechs875: but see I dont like DBZ
Andromaton: see, I get bored before it ever gets to that part
Zechs875: which is the same sorta thing
Zechs875: that's why I liked Gundam Wing as well
Zechs875: and why everyone hated it
Andromaton: the problem with DBZ has nothing to do with it becoming a saiyan fest, it has to do withte fact there are just episodes upon episodes where nothing happens at all
Zechs875: exactly
Zechs875: it didn't have an episodic formula
Zechs875: it had a seasonal formula
Zechs875: where every season ended the same way
Zechs875: but each episode in between SUCKED
Zechs875: it pissed me off
Andromaton: the fights in dbz are great, but they are done really a type of animaton that only works in a show like dbz
Zechs875: yeah
Zechs875: if they could jsut compress
Zechs875: 3 eps into one
Andromaton: exactly
Zechs875: it'd be a great series
Zechs875: I'm into shows that make you think a little
Zechs875: any thing that can bring out emotion makes me want to buy it
Andromaton: as for gundam, I've noticed they are generic, sometimes beyong generic.
Andromaton: Gundam Wing reminded me a bit of dawsons creek with giant robots
Zechs875: oh gundam is FAR from generic
Andromaton: it is now though
Zechs875: you never saw the dozens of mech shows that it was based on and copied
Zechs875: the animation and storytelling were revolutionary
Andromaton: it was revolutionary and defined the genre, but they don't take it further anyymore
Zechs875: becuase the series that do take it further
Zechs875: havn't been released
Zechs875: V, Z, and Turn A
Zechs875: and X
Andromaton: hence why so far I've stated that Gundam is overrated
Zechs875: those are the "out there" series
Zechs875: MSG is revolutionary if you consider it's time period
Zechs875: I think it conveys an increadable amount of depth for the time it was made
Zechs875: I was able to ignore the animation completely and enjoy the show
Zechs875: I think it had better animation that some of the newer gundams
Zechs875: at least it was more fluid
Zechs875: and didn't over-rely on Pans and zooms
Zechs875: like all CG anime does now
Zechs875: American animation is starting to overtake anime in some fields
Andromaton: I have my own respect for MSG
Zechs875: 0080 was short and made only a few years later
Zechs875: I think it was pretty good
Zechs875: I can't put it down for anything outside of some annoying character designs
Andromaton: I think the only series I liked after MSG was 08th ms team
Zechs875: I loved 08th ms
Zechs875: I've got the whole series
Zechs875: the honest truth about GW was that
Andromaton: that and msg are so fa thte only redeaming gundam series I've seen
Zechs875: if not for the final 5 eps
Zechs875: the series would have sucked
Andromaton: hehe
Zechs875: but they ended it so well
Zechs875: a 52 ep soap opera
Andromaton: hehe as I said, dawsons creek
Andromaton: with giant robots
Zechs875: lol
Zechs875: I really liked the upgrades you saw in the enemy mechs
Zechs875: it showed a really neat military progression
Andromaton: Mobile Gundam Creek
Zechs875: oh hush
Zechs875: I ignored the angst...
Andromaton: hehehe
Zechs875: I just saw it as if these kids were being forced into alot of shit they couldn't deal with
Andromaton: the only thing about Wing I found redeaming was the actual designs of the mechs themselves
Zechs875: and thus were overly moody
Andromaton: I again missed the last few eps of wing
Andromaton: I miss alot of final eps
Zechs875: if you had seen them
Zechs875: you would have though alot more of the series
Zechs875: That final shot of Heero's gundam
Andromaton: probably not, I'd say it was a crappy series with a awesome ending
Zechs875: left me in a state of shock for like a half hour
Zechs875: it was just so cool
Andromaton: I don't doubt
Zechs875: ...considering it was the first "adult" anime series I had seen
Zechs875: anyway
Zechs875: I'm gonna get ready
Andromaton: the japanese know how to do cool, especially if they can doit with minimum frames
Andromaton: go
Andromaton: enjoy your concert
Zechs875: heh
Andromaton: break the conductors leg
Zechs875: fourth time I've done it

and here begins the best worst Gundam Wing fanfic,
the one where relena hooks up with duo and then heero, who is also seeing lady un at the same time... and lets not forget when trowa hooks up with jack and Joey at the same time...

so basically, Andro likes filler eps that rap up in 1 or 2 eps but in reality only stalls the main plot? I can understand now why he likes american animation to the point of insanity.

filler eps are when nothing happens. When no conflict in any form gets resolved, where no headway is made in any direction for anything.

much like inuyasha, where its haunted by filler eps. IE, the eps you like that resolve a small problem that has nothing to do with the collection of the shards...

think about the episode arcs that span 2 eps were they are hunting a certain demon or two who has a shard. The first episode generally is finding out the demon exsists and finding him (bam! there's a partial resolution) and the next is the colection of said shard (double bam, that arc is complete while also continuing the main arc without stalling it). The bad part of inuyasha is that the next three episodes after said arc is stupid filler that progresses nothing except to "heal" inu yasha up where they could have just left that out. Gundam is 90-95% the first and third type of episodes. There's no problem with the first, but it needs more of the second to balance it all out.
