It was DTV, but it did get two versions to it. It's not very often a DTV release gets edited down as much as ROTJ did.

Well, Mark Hamill is in both of them, after all...

Right. Also, he's in Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which I thought was funny.

So, let me get this straight: You thought the edits were stupid, and you were interested in the show because of them?

Quote:
But Gundam Wing had the same dumb edits as Big O. And that show is considered more what a toonami show is supposed to be right?

Big O is more mature than Gundam Wing. That's why it's on Adult Swim. Also, people were fine with having Gundam Wing on Toonami, but Big O was a very different story.

Quote:
Remember the Wing midnite runs to show the unedited version? The biggest change was the use of the word God. And if you dont remember were. Its Duo's "I am the God of Death" references.

Duo didn't say "I am the good of death" in the edited version of Gundam Wing, now, did he?

CN could've just simply edited out "Cast in the name of God, ye not guilty" during Big O's run on Toonami (like they did with Duo's line), but instead they altered it and made it sound ridiculous.

Quote:
What about DBZ? A toonami staple until now. 20% of that show is removed for american airing. And we have never once been offered overnight uneditied versions. When I saw SVES was showing DBZ. I thought it was going to show them. No it takes renting them from Netflix to see what they thought was unfit for americans. SVES is just showing the same old shows in their same old version. But you have to admit. Taking HELL and making HFIL was a stroke of genius. It is a funny joke.

Irrelevance at its finest. Gotta love it.

Its their channel. They are allowed to do what they want.

Not always.

But sometimes they assume we americans are god fearing idiots who are afraid of blood (see Batman Beyond for the digital removal of blood).

No. Cartoon Network knows that its audiences aren't like that. The only reason why they remove blood and references to God is so their mailboxes don't get mindlessly flooded by the OMSA.

Last thing if you want to get into a stupid editing discussion. Talk about "Batman Beyond Return of the Joker" for its theatrical release. Not its TV release. I saw it before it was in theatres.

Like Nobu said, Return of the Joker didn't have a theatrical release. It went straight to DTV and video.

Quote:
I couldnt watch the new version because of all the changes. Watering down a good movie for adults and making it marketable to kids. Thats why when Return of the Joker came out on DVD in its unedited version. I jumped on it and bought it. I was disappointed that in the, otherwise excellent, running commentary. Not one mention was made of this. The changes made to water it down were huge. And it helped to kill the show being aimed at adults. How do you take the main plot point, which if you havent seen it involves the end of the joker, and make it so so weak?!!

The series was on Kids' WB! What did you expect?

"Hey, let's show the Joker being electricuted with blood splattering all over the place! It'll be rated G and the kids will love it! Huh-huh-huh."

Probably more like in spite of them. I know I was.

Yesterday Animation Insider previously reported that Turner Broadcasting was facing yet another re-organization. The group would be seperated into three groups, Entertainment, News and Cartoons. While the the latter two are being restructured, the Cartoon group, which will include Kids' WB! and Cartoon Network, is referring to the network's sales efforts. The two networks are not merging other operations. Our previous article has been changed to reflect this.

We would like to emphasize that Kids' WB! is not a part of Cartoon Network. Turner is simply handling joint sales for Cartoon and Kids WB! Kids WB! will remain a vital part of The WB Network. Cartoon Network, however, does fall under this overseeing structure, as Cartoon Network remains a part of the Turner Broadcasting System.

We apologize for the confusion.
