nope, most likely not. the liscensing rights have to expire before CN can even think about airing it. Right now disney owns those rights and I can only imagine that they will never use it. If CN will get it it won't be before 2005 at the earliest.

Fox sold Fox Kids to Disney. This is why all the old Fox Kids shows aren't on Fox anymore, and instead Fox has the Fox Box (Otherwise known as the Complete-Crap-Except-For-New-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles Box). Disney has all the rights to the old Fox shows. Which is why Power Rangers is now ABC Saturday mornings. But, whether Disney or Fox owns it, the outcome is the same: they won't give something to CN that they know CN would make money off of. It's just bad business.

what's intersting is that Fox kids still exsists around the world and disney runs it. actually fox kids in the (if I remember right) uk is doing pretty well. I'm thinking 2008 will be a closer date for us to expect escaflownes (and/or slayers) options to be up for grabs again.

2008 i can't wait that long ! if they don't want CN to make money off it why don't they try to make money off it? by actually showing it.

Pretty much, yeah.
And considering FoxKids' "Cardcaptors"-style editing of Escaflowne (episode-splicing, skipping portions of the story) to make it more "marketable" to young boys, I think we're better off waiting...

CN knows how to make money off of semi-adult-oriented material. Disney and Fox can't seem to find the right way to do anime. They would make money off of it if they could, but they don't have the right demigraphic at any time during the day.

Remember the times when Fox tried to show Escaflowne? The first time, they got ~5 episodes into it when soccer-mom outcry forced it off the air. Maybe Saturday morning at 9:00 wasn't the best idea?
The second time, they went about as far, then cancelled it again. Perhaps if someone bothered to think about why it failed the first time?
Yeah, I don't have much hope that CN will acquire it. After all, they have the means to take advantage of it, and Disney has a LOT of money to throw at anime. If it goes anywhere, it will do so through Studio Ghibli.

Umm, no.
The contract with Bandai only dealt with TV broadcast rights, not distribution. It's still Bandai's baby.

Here in the UK Fox Kids have aired Escaflowne several times over backwards and forwards. I've caught it all, brought four out of 6 DVD's and jawdropped at how much editing Fox did. Anyway Fox Kids here is thriving, it seems.
Anyway, did anyone notice the script blooper in the english version:
'so give me back my escaflowne and give me back my guymelef!'
Heheh, and here I was thinking escaflowne was the guymelef ^^
