In Take-Two Interactive's conference call with analysts early this week the company said that its exclusivity contract with Sony Computer Entertainment America has been amended and, additionally, executives strongly hinted that a version of Grand Theft Auto may come to Xbox.
During the Q&A section of the conference call, Take-Two's Jeffrey Lapin stated that an unannounced SKU would appear on Xbox in the fourth quarter of the company's fiscal year (which, for Rockstar, is November to January). Lapin didn't confirm it was Grand Theft Auto, but he implied, according to a source who listened in on the call, that it was a Grand Theft Auto title. If rumor proves true, then a previously published version of the game, i.e. Grand Theft Auto III or Grand Theft Auto Vice City, is in the works for Xbox.

According to the conference transcript, the relevant question asked in the call was: "Is GTA for Xbox coming, and when it is coming?" Lapin's answer was: "We said that there will be an Xbox SKU from Rockstar in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 [Nov. to Jan.], but we're not going to comment on what it is at this point."

It is assumed by analysts that the Xbox title Lapin refers to isn't a version of Mafia or Max Payne 2, two potential games that have already been announced or hinted at.

SCEA's contract with Rockstar originally stated that all Grand Theft Auto titles would be exclusive to PlayStation 2 (with the exception of the PC) from 2001 to year's end 2004. Apparently, SCEA and Rockstar have re-negotiated the contract to permit the game to appear on other consoles. Rockstar is currently working on the next Grand Theft Auto title, due for year's end in 2004, which will, as we understand it, complete the original exclusivity contract with SCEA. (Unless that too has been renegotiated.)

A second question was asked: "Will the Sony deal allow you to ship a non-PS2 GTA product even if it's not the most current?" The answer was: "We're not going to comment on terms of the at deal although by the next conference call we'll be able to give some more color."

Take-Two is most likely to announce the full, confirmed news in its next analyst call this August

Xicat Interactive has decided to bring the genre smorgasbord that is Haven: Call of the King to Xbox because of its warm reception on the Playstation 2.

You play as young Haven, who takes it upon himself to liberate his enslaved people from the vile clutches of Lord Vetch. To accomplish this goal, he must rely in the legend of the Golden Voice, a bell that when rung three times is foretold to free his people.

Haven is a platform title that has blended several genres into one. Not only will you face typical platforming goodness, but you'll also take part in races, dog-fighting, exploration, combat, and shooting. Also at your disposal are vehicles that you'll be able to pilot at any time such as power-trikes, speedboats, planes, and spaceships. The focus is to create an immersive world that you can explore however you want without facing the interruptions of load times.

"We're thrilled to be working with Travellers Tales to deliver Haven to Xbox and GameCube users," says Brad Flack, US Director for Xicat Interactive. "Haven has an exciting storyline and features unrivalled gameplay, - we're pleased to add the game to our product line up."

Of Nintendo’s two upcoming Zelda connectivity titles for Gamecube, Tetra’s Trackers is the wild card. Four Swords (which is based on the GBA game) has been coming along well in development, and though no release dates have been announced yet, Nintendo’s nebulous schedule suggests both games will be released around the same time later this year. So, is there any reason you should buy Tetra’s Trackers instead of Four Swords? Not really.

In the version shown at E3, Tetra’s Trackers provided no compelling reasons why it should be your preferred pick over Four Swords. Also, unlike the other game, it didn’t do much to justify making multiplayer a connectivity-based system. On top of this, Tetra never leaves the Gamecube screen, and by giving her a voice, Nintendo has turned a charming character from Wind Waker into an incredibly annoying one.

The premise of the game is this: on your GBA (plugged into the Gamecube controller slot), you play one of up to four Links, who are competing with each other to collect stamps from Tetra’s pirates. Yes, Nintendo has finally made a Zelda game about stamp collection. In order to “assist” you, the main Gamecube screen will display a map of the island as well as Tetra, who will be giving you vague tips and holding up the action between rounds. Other characters from Wind Waker are also promised to make appearances.

When a game sells a million copies in a week, it doesn't take a machine to realize that if sequels weren't in the works before the title's release, they're definitely on the fast track once all the money is counted.

But not so fast say sources inside Atari.

Even though the next Keanu Reeves fantasy flick is due to hit theaters in November, it looks like the next game in the series won't be released until Fall 2004 with a follow up to that game scheduled for a 2006 release. These two games (both being developed by Shiny) are in addition to the MMORPG already announced by Ubi Soft, which means there are more games in the future of the Matrix than movies.

GameCube Live?

Since...Well, a long time ago, we GameCubers have wondered if we would ever be able to go online and have the same experience as the XBoxers. Well, if you haven't heard, Gamespy is going to be providing Nintendo's online-ness. In that interview, they say that it will have comparable features to Xbox Live, like instant messaging, voice chat, player matchmaking, and online storage (they say like a "virtual memory card"). They didn't say anything about "buddy lists", but I presume they will be in there.

And about the cost, it's free! Well, technically it's up to the developers of each individual game if they want to charge or not, but Nintendo and Gamespy aren't charging anything for the service.

Not bad Nintendo, although it would have been nice about a year ago...

Information copied but put into my own words from http://www.ultimategamez.com/.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit has struck down a St. Louis County law that would prevent the sales of video games to minors. The ruling stated that video games are protected under the First Amendment as a form of free speech and therefore cannot be regulated by the government. The court found that the county's reasons for regulating sales, which included influencing minors with violent imagery, were largely unfounded and that the government has no ample reason for regulating the sales of games to minors on behalf of parents since parents were reportedly involved in purchasing decisions 83 percent of the time, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

"We do not mean to denigrate the government's role in supporting parents, or the right of parents to control their children's exposure to graphically violent materials," the ruling stated. "We merely hold that the government cannot silence protected speech by wrapping itself in the cloak of parental authority...To accept the county's broadly drawn interest as a compelling one would be to invite legislatures to undermine the First Amendment rights of minors willy-nilly under the guise of promoting parental authority."

The court added, "if the First Amendment is versatile enough to 'shield [the] painting of Jackson Pollack, music of Arnold Schoenberg, or jabberwocky verse of Lewis Carroll, we see no reason why the pictures, graphic design, concept art, sounds, music, stories, and narrative present in video games are not entitled to similar protection."

My next reviews is up here on this....thing. I'm not sure how many agree on my review of Enter the Matrix, but it's really good on the right system.
To read the review, go here: Woooosh!

Warioware Inc. Review (GBA):

You got your GBA in hand. You put the cartridge in the slot. You turn it on and you're wondering to yourself: What the hell is this? Is this a game? Well, it is a game, But no one knows what type. That's the magic of Warioware.

Warioware is a simple to challenging crazy game that requires you to play mini-games in 5 seconds. You think it's easy, eh? Well, you're wrong! This game has some of the most weirdest game you must played. Some are frying an egg, ketchuping food, Insert a GB cartridge to the slot(Hey I just played a level in real time), or deploy an air bag. Shockingly, it's refreshingly different!

The graphics are what you would expect in another game, above average. So, you won't see much of a difference. Sounds are excellent. The in-game music may sound a little too digital, but the voice acting is supreme. The controls are simple. You really won't use the B, L or R buttons during the mini-madness, but so you can relax and worry on the A and directional pad.

Now, some of the games may make you wonder: Were they on drugs when they made this? Some games are flawed, but everything, even the extra, are worth your money. Even if you take 10 hours or 15 minutes-a-day, you'd still have alot of fun with a mad genius!

Warioware Inc GBA review

Graphics: 2.0
Sounds: 2.5
Controls: 2.0
Worth it: 2.5
____________
Total: 9.0

Minus: 2-directions are a must and you will alot of the same levels because of the one or two word instructions. So it's not helping you alot.

Bonus: .5 for old games inside the mini-games.

Grand Total: 7.5(Rated Nicely Done)

Next post I make(which will be the next one) will have the scoring grid to help you figure out what I'm saying and another X-box reivew. Also, I'll need an PS2, Gamecube, GBA, and sports reviewers to help the TIL groups figure what's good.

Okay, my reviewing grid is simple since it require less than 1/4 of your brain. Here's how it goes:

The game is divided into four catagories: Graphics, Sound, Controls, and Worth it. Now, Worth it is a level of should I buy it, rent it, borrow it, or forget it. Everything is rated 2.5 to make a total of 10. The average game should be 6.0.

1-1.5: Destroy this Game
2-2.5: Piece of Crap
3-3.5: Not well thoughtout
4-4.5: Thawed
5-5.5: Almost had it
6-6.5: Average
7-7.5: Nicely Done
8-8.5: Wow
9-9.5: Excellent
10: Perfect

Also, bonuses and minuses are allowed and scores can be above 10 meaning it's Masterpiece. Now, here is the review to Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Review (X-Box)

This is one of Capcom's finest 2-D games to date. But people see one problem: It was released two years ago on the Dreamcast. To me, who really cares?!?

To give this review, you need to go back to when it released. The game is pretty much the same to Street Fighter Alpha 3 or Darkstalkers 3. The graphics won't be up to today's standard, but for 2-D animation, perfectly done. The sound is good, right down to the familar hadoken from Ryu. Controls are what a game sucessful and it still have Capcom's fighting formula. High punch, low punch, high kick, low kick and Partner buttons . That's it. Nothing special except the easy super-combo moves you need to do. Wow.

This game is more recommended to the old skool fighter, but if you aren't one, you should still check it out.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 X-box Review

Graphics: 2.5
Sounds: 2.5
Controls: 2.5
Worth it: 2.0
_____________

Grand total: 9.5 (Rated excellent)

Two things:

And also:
From the local Terre Haute Tribune-Star:
Quote:
Columbia House adds games to offerings

Company sees no immediate changes at Terre haute centers

Tribune-Star staff report

June 13, 2003

The Columbia House Co. will offer its 11 million club members video games along with the thousands of audio and DVD titles it distributes.

Columbia House, the largest direct marketer of entertainment in the United States, signed a strategic consulting agreement with Majesco, a publisher of interactive entertainment software. The first phase of the new strategy launched Wednesday for DVD club members, according to a release from Columbia House on Thursday. Music club members will be targeted in mid-July.

"Our research shows that there is a significant demand for video games among our DVD and music club members," said Scott Flanders, chairman and CEO of Columbia House, in a written statement. "The marketing and selling of video games makes sense on many levels, extending our product offerings while significantly improving our members' experience. It's a very natural progression of the Columbia House business, and we believe Majesco is the right partner to help us implement it."

The games addition will not immediately affect employment or the Terre Haute distribution and customer service facilities, said Terry Dwyer, Columbia House chief operating officer.

"If it's a successful business, it will," Dwyer said.

Majesco will help Columbia House procure all game-related product from all major video game publishers, including new releases, pre-orders, "greatest hits" and close-out titles. In addition, Majesco will provide merchandising, co-op advertising and strategic consulting.

Initially, around 100 different titles will be offered across the PlayStation¨2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube. This includes a mixture of new releases, PlayStation 2 Greatest Hits, Xbox Platinum Hits, value-priced closeouts and pre-orders for titles.

This partnership is the first in what Columbia House said will be a series of strategic agreements in multiple areas of entertainment. Columbia House distributes more than 10,000 music titles and 7,000 video and DVD titles through its entertainment clubs.

So, what titles does Majesco distribute, anyway?
