CHARLIE'S ANGELS helmer McG is on the team which is working on a remake of the 1984 comedy REVENGE OF THE NERDS.
The story revolves around campus geeks who exact retribution on the jocks who have tormented them.
Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, creators of the new ABC TV series LIFE AS WE KNOW IT, are scripting the project.

USA Network has cast Traylor Howard (TWO GUYS AND A GIRL) as Adrian Monk's new sidekick on MONK.
Howard will play Natalie, a single mother and former bartender who becomes Monk's new assistant.
"Traylor is a wonderful comic actress and a delightful addition to our accomplished ensemble," said Jeff Wachtel, USA executive vp original programing.
USA was forced to cast a new character when Bitty Schram was forced out last month over a salary dispute.

Karl Urban (THE BOURNE SUPREMACY) is set to star in DOOM, the latest merge between a popular video game and feature films.
Urban is to play John Grimm, the leader of a special ops team that is at the center of the scifi/action film.
Andrzej Bartkowiak (CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE) is attached to direct the project, which is to begin late next month.
New Zealand-born Urban is best-known for the role of Eomer in the LORD OF THE RINGS films.
Other merges of the videogame and movie genres include the RESIDENT EVIL films based on the Capcom games, the latest of which is tops at the box office, and an upcoming Paramount adaptation of Midway Games' title, AREA 51.

The Republican Party wants to punch back.
After months of taking Michael Moore's blistering criticism in the blockbuster anti-Bush documentary FAHRENHEIT 9/11, conservatives are fighting back.
Conservative filmmaker Lionel Chetwynd has been at work crafting his own documentary, titled CELSIUS 41.11, a reference to the temperature at which the human brain dies from heat exposure.
Conservative group Citizens United is funding the project with a budget of $750,000 to $1 million.

KILL BILL star Uma Thurman has agreed to take over for departed Sandra Bullock in the independent romance movie, PRIME.
Bullock had had script approval on the project, and felt Ben Younger's screenplay needed work. But reportedly there wasn't time to address those concerns.
