Yeah of the mech designs I liked the Heavy Arms as well. But i think that extends from the fact that I like the Mac III from Robotech as well.

The new Wing seemed odd. Ok they went for pretty over functional. But in the original series it could convert to a plane. In the movie there was way it could do that.

Story wise. Well I'll have to get my ands on it again and go watch it. That Heero couldnt get through the door in one blast seems odd. Remember that he could blow up a whole colony with the same gun in the series.

Well when he shot the colony he was in space, maybe that gives him some sort of power boost.

Perhaps it could. Cooling could certainly be a lot easier for the gun, and there's less particulate matter (air and dust) to defract and slow a particle beam.

I thought the plot was pretty good(considering how confusing the original series sometimes got), but the new Gundams didn't make much sense. I know that(from some interview with the director or mechanical designer that I read) the Gundams were originally supposed to be like that in the entire series, but their Custom forms were way too different to just pop out of nowhere. The movie(at least from what I remember) doesn't even try to explain how the pilots received, or upgraded to these new Gundams! Some, like the Heavy Arms, just looked like mild cosmetic changes, but the Wing Gundam was a bit ridiculous. I've seen some weird looking mobile suits, but one with real wings? What the heck?

Well, that's Katoki for you. And actually, one of the manga set between the series and Endless Waltz did say that the redesign of Wing Zero was something that Heero had been thinking about for a while, and decided to do.

Ah, I see! Thanks for that tidbit! I still can't understand how he got those feathers to work, though.

Actually, the feathers are rather logical - each is an independantly adjustable vector thruster. The result is that they improve the Wing Zero's manuverability.

Not to mention that they make a very effective variable drag system.

Yeah, I was out of nowhere. You get used to seeing them in a specific way in the series and then when you watch the movie they are just randomly different, especially wing zero. The wings were cool though.

Vector thrusters, eh? Interesting, although I still can't get enough of the UC mobile suits(especially from Zeta Gundam). The Hyaku Shiki and the Qubeley(besides Zeta and the Mk. II, of course) are excellent MS designs in my opinion. Sorry for dragging this slightly off topic.

all the gundams in endless watz where the original that Masashi Ikeda planned to have but he couldnt because of the production costs. The one thing that bothered me about the movies is that the people actually defeat the serpents by running up to them and shouting, it just kinda seemed like a cop out to me.

Technically, it wasn't the people who "defeated" the Serpents. If you remember, while they were protesting, they had orders to not harm civillians, for one, and for two, by the time they conceded "defeat" it was because their leaders had been shot. The only real thing the people did was get in the way of the fighting. The pilots lost heart in the battle after their leaders were defeated. It's really as simple as that. Military structures that have soilders with nothing else going for them generally get thrown into chaos when the commanding officers no long have power or no longer exist.
