AnimeWorks is ready to rain down Zim's doom upon the heads of animation fans everywhere with its release of Jhonen Vasquez' Invader Zim. Anime fans have been screaming for this DVD release since Zim first aired on Nickelodeon in 2001 and now it’s finally here. Coming Spring 2004 will be the first of three double disc sets and a limited edition boxed set which promises to send fans’ blood racing through their veins like giant radioactive rubber pants. The pants command them! Invader Zim currently airs on Nicktoons TV, Nickelodeon’s digital home for animated hits.

"We at Media Blasters are thrilled to add Invader Zim to our powerful line-up, and expect it to be one of our flagship titles in 2004," said John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blasters. "Zim has created quite a fan buzz in the anime community and we know that it will be a huge sensation!"

It's funny, because there was an online poll a while back on a part of Nickelodeon's site that asked what the fans most want on DVD. Zim had like, 85 % of the vote. It was going agasint Sponge Bob, Rugrats, and Rocket Power, too. I could see this coming a mile away ^_^

Yeah. ZIM's only real competition on that poll was The Angry Beavers, but alas, it failed by, like, 7 whole years.

I'm supprised that Zim hadn't invaded DVD's earlier. I never understood why they ever doubted the fan base.

In all actuality, it seems that all American shows take quite some time to get onto DVD, no matter the popularity. Zim actually isn't taking that long to come out on DVD.

That's right. I forgot there for a moment that America was capable of producing a show like that. Wink

Yes, this does go in Animation News. HOWEVER, it's aslo supre nice to be able to discuss. Especailly since there are a lot of Zim fans here. So leave it unlocked, Spook, please.

And WhtHawk, don't be an idiot. Anyone can make something good. Anime has a different style than American animation. Yet it's still the same form of art. To say you only like anime is like saying you like Rock and Roll, but will listen to ONLY *pulls random band name out of hat* Sublime and refuse to listen to anything different ever for any reason. Don't blind yourself.

Who reads "Animation News", anyway? Wink
Looking forward to this.

(I wonder if it'll have closed-captioning so I can understand what Gir is saying half the time...)

I'm guessing they'll put subtitle options on the DVD, since those are available on most DVDs on the market.

I hope there is some nice special feture type stuff. !!!! DELETED SCENES!!!!!!! It just dawned on me! Zim had scenes deleted for content, not quality. There was even an episode that had to end differently because the censors thought it was offensive to Mexicans. Funny part was, Vasquez IS Mexican . . .

Usually deleted scenes suck, but if they include a Bloody Gir . . . *giggles*

But with my luck, they'll be in Spanish or n00b, since this isn't a Japanese cartoon...
All I know is that I can understand King of the Hill's Boomhauer character easier than Gir. Sad
