it's one of those unwritten laws in which characters from any funimation series are free to die as they please, but every other company has to keep their characters alive...
well, it isn't as bad as it was in the past (outlaw star comes to mind with suzuka's purpose in life being to "destroy", "getting" her victims, etc.)...yu yu hakusho and kenshin (a non-funi property) really pushed the boundaries in allowing the concept of death when they aired on the block earlier this year, so as long as the network didn't take much flack for it, hopefully this fear of it is a thing of the past... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

Yes, cartoons has this thing of if nobody dies nobody gets hurt, this cause little seven year old idiots to try and shoot lighting out of their hands.(yes, I know that is DBZ, which people die in, just live with the ironey) When death is not shown, this causes something to click in a young person's mind that basiclly goes like this "People don't die, they always come back". This train of thought can lead to other such things, an example per say would be:
"Mommy! Buy me this toy rifle"
"Ok, Adam"
*At home with friends*
"Hey, Jimmy wanna go play outside"
"Ok"
*Click, Click the rifle makes as he points it in jimmy's direction*
"Haha, Jimmy now fall down your dead"
*10 minutes later there playing Super Smash Brother's Melee inside eating popcorn and drinking soda*
During that little scenerio, the child recognizes that it is a toy, and that Jimmy is not dead. Even though he knows this there is a small sub-concious memory stating that "people dont die".
The death of a loved one can effect that train, but for some childern this does not occur. When a child bonds with a charater (aka: , and that charater dies a smaller, but similar effect affects the train of thought on it.
