Post subject: Anime with Best Soundtrack
|
|
|
|
I just got through watching Cowboy Bebop again, and thought to my self....damn...what a great soundtrack.
So how about yourself, anybody have a favorite soundtrack to an anime?
*Gundam Wing gets an honorable mention from me as well. Two-Mix did a nice job* |

FLCL and Cowboy Bebop are awesome. I like Trigun's myself. And some of the stuff in Kenshin. _________________ anime is teh s uck

I hereby declare any soundtrack done mostly by Yoko Kanno to not be submittable in this thread, as it's quite obvious that anything written by her is automatically better than any other music ever wirtten.
Now, as for seconds, I'm sticking to my guns on Full Metal Alchemist, for now. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Money.
Anyway, I like the Trigun soundtrack, but I definitely have to go with Cowboy Bebop. |

Escaflowne.
I'm a musician, and trained to pay attention to music. I watched Escaflowne, and did not notice the music. This doesn't happen to me often. Then I listened to the soundtrack, and heard almost everything that went on in the anime. As with Cowboy Bebop, the BGM for Escaflowne truly enhances the anime.
Bebop's music was intended to be noticed. Escaflowne's music was not. Personally, I think the latter is more challenging, so I call it "better." _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

Ahh, that's where personal preferance comes into play as opposed to raw talent. As I've not seen Escaflowne, I cannot comment on that. But in any medium, terms of 'goodness' or lack thereof are determined first and foremost by intent and intended audience. For example, Pokemon is a childrens show. So while it's crap to us, that's irrelevant. To it's intended audience, it's like crack. Thus Pokemon is a really good show. Because it does what it is meant to do. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Yeah, I've played some music from Escaflowne and I have to admit it's very fun to preform and never gets old to listen to. Escaflowne was also scored by Yoko Kanno if memory serves me, and four years earlier in her carrer. Really shows how versatile she can be.
In a technical aspect Bebop has a real high-class professional score with countless music styles and alot of great original songs. FLCL is awesome as well, but the producers used nothing except songs from one, although great, band. Problem is the greatness of Bebop causes people to look not really notice alot of other great soundtracks like Slayers or Hikaru no Go.
Full Moon Wo Sagashite also has another good track. Though you can count the number of songs they use on two hands they're all well used and the title songs sung by the lead character are amazing. _________________ Bang. |

To elaborate on my previous statements, what I find incredible for FMA are the intros and outros. They always set an incredible tone, completely on thier own. The scenes before them can have an entirely different feel to them, and your mood is changed in a matter of seconds, just by the music. As far as BGM, however, it falls in awesomeness considerably. I'd have to give Ah! My Goddess my enjoyment on that one. You barely notice the music (both movie and OVA) during the anime, but it's so happy (more true for OVA) or good at making feelings of loneliness (movie). _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex has some great stuff, as does the new Wolf's Rain soundtrack.
Actually, I think most stuff by Yuki Kajiura or Yoko Kanno can be 'the best'. However, Yuki's stuff is really all the same 0_o she doesn't seem to change all that much compared to Yoko's versatility... _________________ rednekbob9: 1: You're Female
