Post subject: Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, NOT the one on TV
|
|
|
|
Toei made a Yu-Gi-Oh! series that wasn't taken beyond Japan.
The series lasts for 27 episodes and corresponds to the first 7 volumes of the manga.
The series is not continuous with TV Tokyo/NAS's Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (released abroad as Yu-Gi-Oh!), which was aired on TV Tokyo.
Toei's series, aired on TV Asahi, has a new main character (they took Miho from the manga and made her a main character) and also does the Death T fight.
I am asking for FUNimation for a dub of this anime so they can show it on Toonami. I asked for them to use VIZ' naming conventions (e.g. original names) for the release, though I think 4Kids may interfere.
A webpages about the Toei YGO anime:

Why doesn't anyone post on your threads? _________________ "One Piece may seem like a pirate show, but it's really a life show. Think about it." Tom4, Toonami 2008 Hodgepodge |

if someone said, "I have a computer." They didn't mention anything more about it, ask questions, or say something that merits discussion, would you respond? I wouldn't. _________________ The problem with America is stupidity. Well, ViciousKatanaMan do you have something to say that merits discussion? _________________ "Charles Xaiver did more for mutants than you could ever know. My only regret is that he had to die for our dream to live." -Magneto, X Men3:The Last Stand |

I wonder what voice actors that FUNi would use on the show if they got it.
Which voices would they try to be as close to as possible to?
* Original Toei YGO voices
* Original Duel Monsters voices
* English Duel Monsters voices
The between the series, the voices can be different. In Toei's series, Yugi is voiced by a girl, Megumi Ogata. In the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yugi is voiced by Shunsuke Kazama. |

Start a thread about Yu-Gi-Oh period doesn't exactly help either. _________________ I am Jack's Fight Club reference. |

Ha ha ha ha ha ha...
Seriously, the first seven volumes of the manga have violence and swearing and aren't even dominated by the cards.
You only know of the dubbed TV show XD
I'll make Yu-Gi-Oh!-related topics if I want to. Clearly they are allowed, and if you are not interested, don't respond. |

Yes, because adding violence and swearing gives such an air of sophistication, now doesn't it? _________________ I am Jack's Fight Club reference. |

You haven't even read the pre-cards stories - they also have better characterization in terms of their lives arent wrapped up in the darned cards. |

One last thing: Dark Yugi (yami Yugi) starts out as a psychopath who plays random games with bad guys and punishes them with blindness, painful hearing, and other unsavory fates. And when a guy tries to stab Dark Yugi, he jumps away and places the penalty game on him.
This is done in Toei's series too, albiet to a lesser degree.
No, no, no. The beginning manga compared to the TV show is completely different...

Dark does not necessarily equal good.
How is any of what I said childish? _________________ I am Jack's Fight Club reference. |

But then again, it's not automatically bad either.
I would like for you to read Vol. 1 of the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" (not "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist) manga, and if you dislike THAT story after reading it, then I will view your opinion as being "informed". |

No, I'm drawing THAT conclusion from the fact that it's Yu-Gi-Oh. _________________ I am Jack's Fight Club reference. |
