Why doomed? It would seem to be a way to give some new life to boomerrang. And since its a smaller network we can just see the shows in infinate rotation. Remember CN started as 24 hours of looney tunes and Hannah Barbara. See what its turned into? Nothing says that Boomerang shouldnt make a comeback.
And I could add 10 more shows to that list in a heartbeat.
Tranzor Z (sure call it Mazinger Z but in america we called Tranzor Z. And come on it had a female robot that had Machine Guns in her jubllies baby)
Voltron (all three series. The 2 shown in america and the one that wasnt)
Silverhawks
Robotech (85 shows and its considered to old school for CN. Perfect for Boomerang)
GiJoe (once the new CGI one comes online the old one will need a home. And damned if I am not finding new reasons to like to that show. But really thats another thread)
Samurai Pizza Cats
Force 5
Sonic the Hedgehog (the original)
TurboTeen (just to stupid not to be a funny show) _________________ Certified Narutard |

For two reasons:
1) Boomerang isn't as available as Cartoon Network. (The shows would wake up to bad or below-average ratings.)
2) Boomerang wouldn't live up to its name. Boomerang is restricted to only programming from the 70s and before that. The shows you listed come from the 80s and beyond. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015 |

Boomerang does show mid-80's H-B stuff like "Pirates of Dark Water" and "Young Robin Hood", and "Smurfs" is in-n-out of the lineup.
If they could get "M.A.S.K" from DiC in the same package as "Knights of the Zodiac", it might be economically feasible...[/idle speculation]
Eventually, Boomerang will have to notch up their cutoff point to bring in some new shows (build an audience) if they're to become truely viable as a network. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. right now boomerang has the variety of toon disney, which is trully very sad (Toon Disney should be at least the equivolent of what CN was like 3-5 years ago).
Anywho, as Nobu said-- Boomerang isn't limited to shows made up to and during the 70's, its just that is 98% of their programming at the moment. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

I would love to see M.A.S.K again...there's only like 2 people I know that even remember that series
besides G.I. Joe (and possibly He-Man), M.A.S.K had the best toys...couldn't get enough of the tiny action figures... |

Actually, THAT might be the biggest stumbling block to any kind of old-school acquisition...no current or resurgent toy tie-ins. (Freakazoid knows ALL!)
I think the Go-Bots have been pretty much folded into the TF: Mini-Cons, anyway... _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Lack of ratings Keen. It was ahead of its time. What a shame. Because its "TOYORIFIC!"
As for Gobots. Well considering megatrons mini-con is called...grrr... leader 1. You might be right on that one.
Nobu as for toy tie-ins. Well lets not forget that Transformers and HeMan are back in toy stores. So anythings possible. The thing about M.A.S.K. is that you would have to modernize some of the vehicles to resell them. But if they remade it in anything other then Reboot CGI it would look so so lame. Have you seen the new SpeedRacer?
And like everyone else let me say that Boomerang does show 80's cartoons such as Centurions. Which was way of ahead of its time with "POWER EXTREME!". But behind the times with a leader who looked like he walked out of a disco with that mustache. And lets not forget that Lucy is cool. Because monkeys are always cool.
Boomerang needs a voice and a concept just like CN did in the early days. If its to get my generations shows back on the air then thats it. Cartoon Disney pushes Gargoyles as its only mainstream cartoon. And it pushes it hard. BUt there are a lot of us out here with satellites not limited to cable channels who would like to see some of these channels get some more content. |
