...First off...ignorance is bliss-somewhat.
Yes I am a fat noob.
Yes I do have a question, I am having trouble with getting an avatar..any suggestions, after each time I try to get one going after the submit button is hit a page appears saying"Page not available"
Also-Everytime I try to change my password by putting in my original it says that the original one I put in is not correct.
It would be greatly appreciated if any suggestion would be made-Thanks. |

Ok, first off, welcome. Secondly, the password thing is a bug the board has had for a good long forever. Lastly make sure you're using the right avatar selection thingy for you. I don't know how many times I've accidently put the url for my avatar in the wrong section because I wasn't paying close attention. Also to note if you want TI to host your avatar you have to make sure it meets the critiria (no bigger than 75x75 pixels and 12kb) if you want something bigger than that you have to host it yourself. |

Alright, I was trying to copy them inot the place to put the URL's in...though it wasn't working so I am just saving them to "my pictures" then putting them under the selection "from my machine"
Though now all my pictures are either too big or are not a .gif or jn---whatever. (obviously I am no computer buff)
So is there anyway I can tell how one is one of those three things? |

jpg.
anyway, the best way to figure out if you can use it is to (in windows) right click ont eh file and go to properties. You will be able to see if it is over or under 12kb in size. As for 75x75 pixels.... use some sort of image changery sizey thingy to get it right while still keeping it in porportion. |

Believe it or not, I used MS Paint to resize mine. It was 100 x 100 pixels, and I opened it in paint, outlined it all, clicked and held on the lower right hand corner, held down shift, and then dragged up and left. In the bottom of the screen somewhere, there are 2 numbers. It shows you, basically, what pixel you're on. Once it was 75,75, I saved it as a .jpg and WHAM, Stupendous Man is my avatar.
Although, I found some Captain Simian pics and am damn tempted to change . . . _________________ anime is teh s uck

Do it, even if it's only temporary. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Hmm, low quality, and had to shrink it down sideways, but not bad for a 2 minute effort (literally). Maybe I'll rework it a little better later, but most likely not. ^_^

So where can you go to resize your avatar and also keep it in proportion? _________________ Justice is Injustice in some manner or other. |

You can still do it in Paint. Just pull down the Image menu and click "Stretch/Skew." I tend to use that for a lot of my avatars, including the one you see on this page right now.
There's also a website called GIF Works, but I wouldn't recommend it, though. Every time you resize an image, GIF Works compresses it, killing the quality a bit.
The Stretch/Skew thing is a bit tricky to use since it goes by percentages instead of pixels, but it doesn't compress the image and it also works on more than just GIFs, so it's your best bet...well, to MY knowledge, anyway; unless there's another good non-compressing image resizer I don't know about.

Alright, is there any way yuo can resize an image without saving it to your computer, because after I save it to my pictures the image changes from a .jpg to something else so as that I can't submit it for an avatar _________________ Justice is Injustice in some manner or other. |
