Yeah, I thought the effects in Spiderman could of been much better. But it was mostly the going-through-a-wall-that's-obviously-styrofoam and the obviously-planned-out-and-placed-specifically-where-you-absolutely-know-you-want-them flames in the burning building. _________________ anime is teh s uck

you know, I can't say I noticed that. then again I haven't watched my copy of it yet. an approx timecode I could use to know of when your talking about would be nice. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar
I came. I saw. I spooked.
The fire is when Spiderman and the Green Goblin fight in the burning building. I looked at the fireand it looked like it was arranged in rows. As if they had some sort of machine string it in a line. It didn't spread normally.
The styrofoam was in the last battle between GG and SM. GG slams SM through a wall, and I could TELL it was styrofoam.
And, when SM saves MJ at that parade, when GG fries the company execs with his nuke bomb, or whatever, that was some pretty sweet CG with them turning to skeletons and then dust, and all. But the rest of the effects in that seen (The part of the balcony falling with MJ hanging on, etc.) were just bad and not realistic.
At least, that's my opinion. I really thought the CG was extremely good. But the other stuff . . . _________________ anime is teh s uck

Titan A.E., even though it had 2d character models, it was still a great movie.

1) It was a real letdown to what they hyped it up to be (I mean there were previews a year and a half in advance!)
2) "They're pure energy!" So the hell are you! Everything's energy, stupid! Don't give us that crap and say, "pure energy." It doesn't exist! It goes from one form to another--there is no "pure" form.
3) Half the character-developing scenes got taken out. That pissed me off. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Yes, but the CGI was uber-1337 and wicked sw33t. I think that makes up for it. _________________ anime is teh s uck

Visual effects will never make up for lack of plot/character development in a movie! _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

I think Toy Story is the best so far.

Not entirely true. They won't ever make up entirely for the lack of plot/character development. Vis Effects can go pretty far though. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

Well, Toy Story had a pretty good plot.
However, Shrek was a very good satire of fairy tales. It was fun as a story, but not really significant. The way it shined most was in the CG. You see, Toy Story (and TS 2) had good modeling, and better-than-average physics, but Shrek had much more. Namely, textures. In Toy Story, everything is perfectly smooth. This is okay for characters made of plastic, but it carried over onto the "human" characters. Shrek had awesome texturing on nearly everything. It looked vastly more realistic. And for me, nothing is more important than realism. (I think that came from reading far too much sci-fi as a child) _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.
