Not all that surprising. We need to remember what country this stuff is from. In the end, making Starscream an F-22 is about the same on the weirdness scale.

Making Starscream a modern fighter jet instead of an old F15 and not making Prime a cabover truck. Are not the same as having a toy that only transforms with a kiss. Its just another sign of a sexually repressed society

I guess the idea of a Transformers Hentai doesn't seem so strange after this. I mean think of the idea of a licensed Tranformable adult toy! Fun for you and your wife/girlfriend. Especially if it was a triplechanger.

In the case of the movie. You have to modernize the characters. It is 2006 and not 1986. Having a bunch of 20 year old cars, 30 year old jets, and such would look really odd to someone new to the series. And don't kid yourselves there trying to attract new people to sell toys to and restart the franchise

I was actually going for the point "neither one is all that strange"

Japan no longer surprises me. They make, I buy. Simple as that.

Oh and that surfboard sword looks badass. I mean like if it had an actual ass that ass would punch kittens and push old ladies off sidewalks.

Almost all of the Transformers we know as Alternators here in the states has a Japanese countpart called "Kiss" which contains a small female figurine with less and less clothing as the series continues... I figure by time they get to bumblebee they'll have to sell it next to the hentai.

Yeah, I've been following the news on the line for a while now. It spun off from the possibly dead Binaltech line. There are three figures so far:

Convoy(Optimus) X Melissa- Aside from the girl and the sword, the figure seems to have a better paint job than the Alternators Prime. But it's like $80 since there's a CD included.
Autorooper(which is a scaled down Meister figure) X Atari- What's wierd is that it's the girl that's the larger figure, not the robot, which seems to be a drone and not a real autobot. I think there's a version that uses the Meister(Jazz) mold for the main figure, with a smaller girl figure like usual.
Rodimus(Hot Rod) X Xiao Xiao- This a repaint/remold of the Alternators Mirage figure. For this the design team borrowed elements from the old movie, so Hot Rod now has his visor, and a fishing pole that turns into the arm cannons he used in the movie.

In a manga that follows the story, there's an army of Megatron-themed robots called Legion that have a similar interest in girls. However, instead of getting power from a kiss like the autobots, they eat the girls.

To be honest, after I get my Masterpiece Starscream, I'm focusing on the Classics line.
