Nevada-tan is an internet meme based on a girl who is suspected to be the 11-year old girl who killed Satomi Mitarai, a 12-year old Japanese schoolgirl, at her school.

Nevada-tan was adopted as a mascot of some places, often seen "slashing" idiot posters.

Nevada-tan is not meant to actually support the actions of the girl that killed Ms. Mitarai, but it is just another meme.

"-tan" is a mispronunciation of "-chan".

Some forums showed a chibified version of Nevada-tan in Japan, and then the American equivalents showed those versions...

I mention it because it's strange that people made a girl murderer into a chibified internet meme. "Nevada" even has her own fan club! X_X
