Yesterday, I finally bought something to replace my 1989 Chevy Astro van (also known as CrapBox 6000).

Many of you will remember my model dilemma from a few months ago between the Honda Civic LX and the Civic Hybrid.
I finally decided that the Hybrid just simply cost too much and its future was too uncertain to buy and use for ~10 years.

My purchase: 2003 Honda Civic EX in "Infolink Blue" (they call it Eternal Blue Pearl). They didn't have it in TDA Sync-on-Green.

...now, why the EX, a more expensive model?
Because it's the end of the model year. The dealer I went to was desperate to get rid of their existing stock and didn't have a blue automatic trans. LX...so I got an EX for pretty cheap.

Final price (INCLUDING tax, title and license): $17,152.90
A damn fine deal if I do say so myself.

There's an incredibly awesome/funny story involving the van as a trade in, but my dad forbid me from telling it publicly for at least a year.

Pictures
The CrapBox 6000. 14 years old and still kickin'. Barely. No AC, or power locks anymore.
The picture where we endanger youth in a running car.
The old dash/wheel. Turns like a dream. A bad dream.
If I were a playa in any definition of the word, this would be the happenin' back seat.
A video file of the van's "final" trip - to the dealer.
The new car! In all its glory!
My license plate. Also in all its glory.
While not electric powered, it's good enough for now.
The evil salesman said it was a 6-CD changer. He lied.
First thing I put on my car when I brought it home. Zealotry rocks.

I can see it now. You're driving down the street and some guy behind you sees your license plate and says "Hal Pepto? What the hell is that?"

Shoulda made your license plate "TDA 4EVR."

Again, the eternal smart-ass JP has to chime in...

Ever think someone might mistake you for someone named "Hal Pepitone" from now on?...

hey, waitaminute here... did you buy that car at Bob Rohrman's? Jeezus, that takes me back... the lame car dealership commericials with the little cartoon lion saying "Bob ROHRman!"... damn, I forgot you were a Chicagoland Area kid too!

...of course, my personal favorite local Chicago car-dealership commercials of all time were the Celozzi and Ettleson Chevrolet commercials... "Where you always save more money"...

Secret Message to my Chi-town niggaz only: You'll probably get a kick out of this... The Celozzi-Ettleson Mafia

anyway, don't want to take this off-topic...

Actually, anyone looking at my car in person will see a different license...

And, FYI, don't buy from any Bob Rohrman dealer unless you know how to get even. They're assholes.

Damn it's a photoshop? It would have been sweet if you really had gotten that.

Though I bet explaining it to your family and friends over and over again would have slightly embarrassing and annoying.

What, none of you could tell it was Photoshop? I've never even physically seen anyone use the program and I could tell right away it wasw fake.

Actually, my real license plate makes even less sense to 99% of the world.

I say "PEPITO" would make a fine liscence plate. Although, I'd like to at least see a few Pepito bumper stickers, or a full stenciled on paint job with his picture, with all it's glory. Imagine a Pepiot-mbile... that'd be awesome with the red and yellows.
