Well, since Gashouse got to ask for stuff for his school work, I need ideas for a paper that's due near the end of semester (I quite enjoy starting ahead in my english classes). The only requirements are at least 1500 words and that I make an argument.
So... any ideas? Preferably that suit me?
I've only got two ideas--either something about DDR or Magic, or make the argument that Pie is yummy. I really think I could go far with the pie thing--conduct my own surveys, research chemical reactions with taste buds, things like that.

I have a question about the argument part of your paper: Is it supposed to be your one-sided views on it, or set in a style where it points out the positives and the negatives for both sides of the issue?

I am supposed to acknowledge and respect the opposing view, but again, I'm making an argument. I have to take a point of view. My point of view could, however, be something to the effect that all politicians have the wrong views...
I like Spooks, but I don't want to have to read the Bible for my paper (trust me, that's the biggest argument people try to throw back at you when you write a paper about religion--not that it woould bear any relevance, they're just too dumb to realize they've lost an argument), I'll take it under consideration, though.

Actually what I found works for papers that use bible themes/refrences is to go find a christian chat room somewhere and ask if there are any and which passages from the bible support certain things.

Remember; they aren't suposed to knock your grade down just becuase they dont agree or like your subject matter.

Actually, you could write a paper about the benefits of cooking and eating infants, and you should get a good grade as long as you make a good, logical argument with plenty of facts to back it all up...

And have a follow-up essay prepared titled, "How I'm not really plagarizing Jonathan Swift". Very Happy

Damn you Truffleofogous! I was just about to say the same thing!

I would say argue something about our social structure. You could cut and paste things from this board, find a few quotes, and your done in 3 hours flat ^_^

Of course, that's cheap, but it IS your own writing.

I say, print out the "Yet another philosophical/religious discussion/rant" thread. I'm sure you've said at least 1500 words there, you verbose bastard.

Well, the religion thing I was going to argue was going to be about how a puritanical farming culture leads to increased sexual deviance, but that has a lot less to do with religion and more than farming. I like FAK's idea, though.

Why don't you write an argument about arguments?
