Hey! I like Alan Jackson.

Anyway, some country songs that have to do with summer:
Deana Carter - Strawberry Wine
Garth Brooks - That Summer
Chad Brock - Evangeline
Martina McBride - Independence Day

Most of you probably never heard of those songs, so how about:
Ace of Base - Cruel Summer
Moby w/ Gwen Stefani - South Side

Sorry, Nobu, I was thinking the country version--made around '91 or '92. Oh well, there are as many (bad) rock mixes to country songs. Third Rock From the Sun *shudders*

Hey! I like Alan Jackson.

Nothing really wrong with that. I'm not anti-country. I personally just find his lyrics inane.
And when I was googling for the lyrics (can't remember them ALL off the top of my head) the first 14 hits were along the lines of, "Alan Jackson's 'Summertime Blues'". So my reaction was "OMGWTF, people!" Of course, I have that reaction a lot... Rolling Eyes

Now in the interest of fairness, I have to follow my parrothead leanings and recommend any and all Jimmy Buffett songs as summer-inspiring. Cool

And then there's this:

Summer in the City - The Lovin' Spoonful (NOT that St. Lunatics/Nelly nonsense- Nobu)

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city

Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Oh come on.

Vivaldi - Four Seasons - Summer

:p

Sugar Ray, Reel Big Fish, and any ska or punk music in general reminds me of summer.

Elvis' Viva Las Vegas works well too.

Now there's an avatar I haven't seen for a while. They're just coming out of the woodwork, aren't they?

...yes... yes we are...

Anyway, I agree with Gouf... I was about to say "Amber" by 311 as well, but actually most of 311's songs remind me of summer...

"Flowing", "All Mixed Up", and "Come Original" are other 311 songs that remind me of summer...

also Incubus' "Wish You Were Here" is a good summertime song... it reminds me of long driving along a stretch of road in the U.P. that follows along the "coast" of Lake Michigan... it's a really scenic stretch of road, especially during sunset. Of course, sunset is also about the time when the deer start coming out of the woods and running out in front of your car, but still...

...oh, hey! Has anyone mentioned "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry yet?
If not, then I am officially ashamed of every single one of you. For shame!
