Hello, I am JohnnyPsycho

An interesting fact about me is that I am Native American, and I get checks from my tribe every year as part of my share from our reservation's casino profits. We lost our land due to whiteman's greed, and now are using that same greed to slowly buy it all back, one white-haired slot-machine addict at a time... suck it up, honky...

oh, and in case you were wondering, this is what it looks like when a person of color "baits" a white person into saying something the slightest bit racially offensive, just so we can get our dozen Black and Latino friends to gang up and beat the crap outta them... "Don't blame us, we were just protecting ourselves from a vicious hate-mongerer intent on treading upon our ethnic identies." I exist in a world where Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock can make fun of you cracker-ass-crackers, but you have absolutely no freedom to fight back without being labeled a racist pig. Yes, I know it's hypocritical, but I'm pure evil and have no problems with pulling out the race card for my own amusement...

I am an actor.

(And if you can't think up anything better than the cliche' "gay" angle, I'll be sorely disappointed, oh 5th-greatest one.)

Oh come on, ask Dread, it's not so bad! The only mistake I ever made in our marriage was to put the hobbit children in a blender!

Johnny_Psycho: You fought the law and you won! Congrats. I mean, while all the other native ethnicities of the world face the harsh iron-fisted control of THE MAN, you and your (surviving) buddies get a free ride! Well when that card Noam Chomsky starts a rally somewhere in South America where some guy just kind of happened to stumble across some Argentinean Nazi refugee's stash of Nazi Germany's closest attempt at an atomic bomb near the end of WWII, things are gonna lead up to WWIII. So with the rest of the area around your sacred territory radiated, who's going to feed you out of guilt when every one alive has to hunt their own geese to eat everyday?

That tangent aside, I hope you spend your fair share of the hopes and dreams the addicted gamblers (which do make up the majority of gambling income) so lovingly put into your one-armed bandits.

P.S. When the Revolution does come we'll invade your land first to get our hands on the kickass fireworks. :)

P.P.S. This is an honest question: why isn't this casino money used to be reinvested into a more need-based form of Native American welfare or an Anti-Alcohol campaign? I don't pretend to know all about modern N.A. culture and issues but when my dad's cousin makes a nice sum on the side shipping Smirnoff up to the Inuits through some legal loophole and I've heard horror stories of N.A. butchers (THE KIND THAT WORK WITH BIG KNIVES) showing up to work drunk, I really think that firewater is the biggest problem facing Native Americans today.

P.P.P.S. More shame on you for...not doing community service! Yeah, that's it!

fine, how's this.

I spent the last week of Bismarck's (dog) life hand feeding him four times a day and watched him slip further and futher away to the point where he no longer recognized anyone and then to the point where he lost his motor functions.

Oh, I also did the same except for three months and through a tube in her neck with my cat who died a year or two ago. She went violently insane. though instead of loosing motorfunctions.

it is... the casino earnings all go into housing and community projects for the reservation and for tribal members, but you have to remember not every tribe is lucky enough to have a casino, or any other way of creating income for their tribal members. The overwhelming vast majority are still in poverty. Mine is finally starting to do well, and part of the profits have to go to tribal members, although it's not really that big (about $1000-$2000 a year per tribal member), it's enough to keep some of us to make rent or cover unexpected expenses. My tribe uses most of the casino earnings for community services like Alcohol and Drug Abuse programs and scholarships and even run their own year-round elementary school.

You also have to remember that when you're living in a place like Wilson, MI, waaaaay up in the U.P. (Upper Penninsula), where the nearest town is very tiny and made up of mostly working class and lower income white families (and yes, there was once a local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan that lived next door to the rez), and where the nearest "large" town is Escanaba, MI, which has one mall and not much else, you find that there really isn't much else to do on the rez than drink.

Seriously, though, my little sister has spent more time living on the rez with my grandmother than I have, and she admits that the only source of entertainment on the rez for most people our age are the house parties and bars. That's even with the casino's theatre showing musical and comedy acts every week. You can only take so much Carrot Top or Brooks and Dunn before you end up taking to drink.

Education is a problem too, because of the simple fact that our youth who live on the rez are in a constant environment of "settling with what you can get". One of the hardest times for a kid who grew up on the rez is their first year at college, because suddenly they are thrust into a world with completely different sets of values than they were brought up with. In their world, the traditions of old and the words of the elders are the most important, but in the white man's world its the newest technology and youngest ideas that earn the most money. The vast majority of Natives who go all the way through college end up choosing career paths that allow them to assist their own people back on the rez. You have to understand the Native American psyche, in that we have to constantly exist in two different worlds, and that is an enormous pressure for most young kids.

Hey, that's not fair! You know I'm only an alcoholic because I'm in college, and my roommate's a German... and his best friend's a Russian who keeps all of his vodka in our freezer... unguarded...

*starts calling up all of his bouncer buddies at work*

CollegeBum: When you came to these forums, when I was still an active member, it didn't take much to figure out that your screenname was pretty damn accurate. I could put your typing into a 1337 word filter, and then ask Chon to retype that, and it would still pass a spell check better.

Of course, at the same time, your screenname is deceptive when you behave and type like a 13 year old. Interesting contradiction.

-----
Andromation: You're pathetic, but in a way I'm familiar with. I'ld almost sympathize as some of my friends have gone through that as well, but then I realized that they're really just attention seeking bitches so moody that if you put a mood ring on them it'ld look like a fucking sparkler. Of course, they, unlike you, had the high speed rush of female hormones as a realistic excuse. So that could make you a gender confused attention whore. Sorry if I'm an asshole on this topic, but I only had two pets as a kid: 1. Seamonkeys. They never grew well. and 2. A goldfish, won at a school fair, which lived for a day when my dad decided it would be a swell idea to clean the fish tank (badly) with it in it.
