Post subject: Need cheap gas? Move to Iraq.
|
|
|

WTF is this?
Quote: |
One of the prewar forecasts was that by invading Iraq, the world would profit from stable exports of Iraq's oil. And that would translate into cheap gas for American drivers. Now, with U.S. gasoline averaging $2.05 per gallon — about 50 cents more than the pre-invasion price — that logic has been flipped on its head.
Instead, Iraqis seem to be the only people getting cheap gas as a result of the invasion. They pay just five cents for a gallon |
Full story.
As I said above, WTF is this? We're paying tons for our gas, and all they need is a nickel. They can get 20 gallons for a buck, and we need more than twice that much for just one.
Where's the fairness? |

Have you tried using one of those currency converters to see how much 5 cents is worth in Iraq?

And besides that, it's not the lack of oil that's rasing gas prices, it's the lack of refineries. Large oil companies for the last year have been doing thier best to buy out small-time refineries, and bring the number of refineries in the US down as a whole. Here in the southwest, they recently found that we have HALF the refineries that we did 15 years ago. It's like Enron; there's not really a gas shortage, but they'd like us to think there is so that they can charge more. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

ROFL, Oil Shortage MY ASS!
Read This.
The Enron comparison is exactly true, they wont stop raising the price until we yell "STOP". Grumbling under our breath whenever we pass by a gas station isn't making them cry, the only way they'll even think to concede is once the people take a stand, and right now too many are just dealing with it and believe it's the same situation that occured during the oil shortage back in the 1970's and that eventually prices will drop. Truth it they will never drop below a dollar as long as we all live even if every refinery and drilling station is working every possible field on this earth the companies will miss their fat check books too much to let that occur.
My prediction is that, yes, oil prices will gradually begin to steady and lower, yet the final price will still be much more than we paid pre-9/11. Why? Because if it starts to hit an average of $3.00 across the nation 1.50 or what ever it ends up being will seem like a godsend in comparison. Most americans will simply put it off as economic growth and natural price raising by the time this whole fiasco is over and won't notice that the price is still drastically more than they were paying in previous years. _________________ Bang. |

Blame the tree-huggers a little, too. While they didn't cause the sudden spike, they're a good deal of the reason few enough power plants were built that Enron could stage a power shortage. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.
