The website for Cutey Honey is up if you didn't know.

http://www.cutiehoney.com/

This movie has the potential to be either really campy and stupid. Or a huge cult hit.

Much like Kill Bill.

John O’Brien has the job of rewriting the script for Warner Brothers DUKES OF HAZARD. The studio is hoping the film will be a new franchise, so they want it to hit. The front runners for the main roles right now, are Ashton Kutcher and Paul Walker as the fast-drivin' cousins, with Anthony Anderson as Hogg.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mick Foley, the former WWE (World, Tag Team, Hardcore Champion) wrestler, who has recently been a bestselling author is close to signing a deal, along with writer Teddy Tenenbaum, with CBS to develop a action series. Foley would play a detective in the Tampa Police Dept. who's just as ruthless as the criminals he hunts down. If the project goes through, WWE would also help finance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bill Paxton is to direct THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED: HARRY VARDON, FRANCIS OUIMET AND THE BIRTH OF MODERN GOLF, a bit of a mouth fall isn’t it. The film is a true story about what happened at the 1913 U.S Open. Hopefully this turns out better than THE LEGEND OF BAGGA VANCE. Mark Frost wrote the script (and book the film is based on) and will produce along side Larry Brezner for Disney.

Between the numbers for the first five days of the DVD release for X-Men 2, and the to date numbers of X-Men and X-Men 1.5 (the special rerelease DVD set of the first film), the franchise is reported to have made well over one billion dollars, easily beating out SPIDER-MAN and THE HULK's total income, although X2 is still about 75 percent of SPIDER-MAN's sales, yet easily doubleTHE HULK'S.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep, that’s the news people. Fortunately X-FILES won’t come back as a TV series, but as a sequel to the 1998 movie. David Duchovny recently told a website that depending on the script, the plan is to start filming early next year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

CBS has given a pilot order to a new sitcom from Lisa Kudrow (FRIENDS) and Dan Bucatinsky that will star Aisha Tyler (FRIENDS). Bill Martin and Mike Schiff will write the pilot script. "Basically, it's about a woman trying to maintain her sanity and self-respect in a modern corporate environment," Martin said.

GOTHIKA writer Sebastian Gutierrez has agreed to direct the horror film RISE from a script he wrote. The film will center on a young female reporter that wakes up one day in a morgue to discover that she's no longer alive. Consequently, she vows to track down and kill whoever murdered her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brothers John (MR. DEEDS) and Nick Turturro (NYPD BLUE) will write and executive produce THE DOORMAN, a potential new project for HBO that has received a script order. John will direct the pilot and Nick will also star in the single-camera comedy, which will be based on his 12-year experience as a New York doorman.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

According to FAST & THE FURIOUS star Paul Walker, Vin Diesel may return for the third installment. "Nothing's definite," said Walker, "but the sequel did really well ... We actually did much better, so I think we'll go back and do a third one, and we're hoping Vin will be on board."

LORD OF THE RINGS director Peter Jackson says he definitely wants to direct THE HOBBIT, but it's in New Line's court.

Sci Fi Wire had the details:

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson told the Australian news.com.au Web site that he is now interested in helming a movie version of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Jackson said that Rings studio New Line Cinema had yet to speak to him about The Hobbit and added there were some difficulties related to the rights for the book.

But, Jackson said, "certainly if they want to talk to me about it, I'd be keen. It would be wonderful to complete the set of films." The Hobbit, which Tolkien published in 1937 before starting on The Lord of the Rings, is a children's story about Bilbo Baggins' first encounter with Gandalf, Gollum and the One Ring.

Lord of the Rings executive producer Mark Ordesky confirmed to the site that "there could be a movie about The Hobbit. Enough said." Before that, however, Jackson will have to complete work on his upcoming remake of the classic SF movie King Kong.

The Academy salutes 1903, a seminal year in motion picture development with its inaugural program at the new theater at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study on Vine Street, A Century Ago: The Films of 1903. After years as a technological novelty, interest in the motion picture had waned until the release in 1903 of several popular narrative films, most notably Thomas Edison's The Great Train Robbery. A Century Ago: The Films of 1903 will include a partial survey of turn-of-the-twentieth-century American filmmaking with trick films, actualities and gag films. It will be highlighted by the one-reel feature films A Day in the Life of an American Fireman, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Rube and Mandy at Coney Island, and a color-tinted print of The Great Train Robbery. All prints will be in 35mm and are drawn from the collections of the Academy Film Archive, the Library of Congress and the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Live musical accompaniment will be provided by Michael Mortilla.

Tickets for A Century Ago: The Films of 1903 are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a photocopy of valid student photo I.D. mailed in. Tickets for this event will be available beginning December 1, 2003 at the Academy during regular business hours, by mail (HTML or PDF format), or on the night of the screening, if still available. Doors open at 6:30PM.

The theater is located in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study at 1313 N. Vine (at Fountain) in Hollywood. Free parking is available. Parking lots open at 6:30PM.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. For more program information, please call 1-310-247-3600.

The show starts on December 10 at 7:30PM.

The same week that ousted Roy Disney mounted his coup, Walt Disney's Buena Vista Film Distribution Group announced a new industry record for global box office in 2003 with its combined domestic and international gross exceeding $3 billion - thanks in no small measure to the record-breaking back-to-back $300 million duo of FINDING NEMO and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.

The milestone, fittingly enough, was reached on Thanksgiving Day. Domestically, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution (BVPD) is continuing to have its best year ever at the box office with a year-to-date gross of $1.48 billion (surpassing its previous high of $1.24 billion in 1999). Internationally, Buena Vista International (BVI) also posted record box office receipts for the year-to-date with $1.6 billion. With a full month still to go, the combined grosses for the Buena Vista Film Distribution Group now stands at $3.08 billion. This unprecedented figure easily beats the previous industry record posted by Sony in 2002, when its domestic and international tally for the market share year climbed to $2.864 billion. It also marks the eighth time in the last nine years that the Buena Vista Film Distribution Group has surpassed more than $2 billion in global box office receipts, a record unmatched by any other studio.

With nearly $340 million domestically and more than $230 million internationally (not counting Japan), Disney/Pixar's FINDING NEMO is now the most successful animated feature of all time. PIRATES, meanwhile, with its nearly $305 million domestic gross and $344 million international bounty, represents the studio's live-action box office champ.

HBO has tapped Michael Apted (THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH) to direct the first three episodes of their upcoming series ROME. The series, which is expected in 2005, will be about two Roman Empire soldiers and their families around 51 B.C. The first season of the show will run for 12 episodes and will shoot in Rome, North Africa and Bulgaria beginning in March.

Anderson Jones is reporting the rumor that GLADIATOR 2 will take place 20 years after the first film. It will supposedly focus on Commodus' sister Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and her son, Cassius. It seems Cassius has decided to become a gladiator himself with the help of Maximus' fellow gladiator, Juba (Djimon Hounsou). Ridley Scott will also direct the sequel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bryan Singer has signed a 2 year deal with 20th Century Fox that will let him develop projects which he will produce and direct. All projects will come under Singer's new production company, Bad Hat Harry. Singer isn’t just looking to make movies; he’s also looking to do both TV and videogame work as well. Singer is also in negotiations with Fox about returning as director for X-MEN 3.
The latest stars to be linked to the KING KONG movie are George Clooney and Robert De Niro. It’s rumoured that Peter Jackson is looking for one of those two to play Carl Denham, the films male lead.
For all those fans of THE GODFATHER films who couldn’t afford the box set that was released in 2001, you will soon be able to pay your respects, as Paramount Home Entertainment will soon be releasing each film individually. THE GODFATHER will be released 11th May 2004 for $24.99 and parts 2 and 3 will follow later in the year. The down side of buying the films individually is that you only get a commentary feature on the disc, where as with the box set you got deleted scenes, production stills and documentaries.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If anyone remembers reading the interviews with DAREDEVIL director Mark Steven Johnson just before the film came out, he mentioned that he had to cut over an hour's worth of footage for the theatrical release. Soon, we may be able to see some of the cuts. In April 2004, DAREDEVIL 1.5: DIRECTOR’S CUT will be released and unlike the theatrical release that was a PG–13, this will have an R rating. Who knows what could have pushed up the rating, but hey, we'll be watching.

Billy Connolly (LAST SAMURAI) has joined the cast of LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, starring Jim Carrey, Jude Law and Meryl Streep. The film is about three orphans who go on a series of adventures, all while the evil Count Olaf (Carrey) tries to steal their inheritance. Connolly will play Uncle Monty. Brad Silberling is directing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adam Sandler will star in and produce CLICK for Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios. Based on a script from Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe (BRUCE ALMIGHTY), Sandler will play a man that finds a universal remote that allows him to rewind and fast-forward to the best parts of his life. However, problems start when the remote starts making choices for him. Jack Giarraputo and Neal H. Moritz will also produce.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gina Torres (FIREFLY) has been cast in a recurring role on Fox's 24, while Penny Johnson Jerald has agreed to return as the nefarious Sherry Palmer. Torres will play the wife of a major donor to Palmer's campaign. No word on when her first appearance will be. Jerald will return in the January 13th episode for "a handful of episodes plus a few more." Little detail is, naturally, available about what spark's her character's return, but Jerald says her return is timed with, "all hell break[ing] loose in all areas."

Variety is reporting that next spring, Godzilla's many fans will get a chance to check out the original, uncut 1954 film for the first time in American theaters, but they will have to brave the rigors of their local art house theater to do so. Rialto Pictures, the New York-based specialty distributor whose list of titles includes such classic art house staples as The Third Man, The Nights of Cabiria, Grand Illusion, and The Battle of Algiers, is striking new 35mm prints with an updated translation and new subtitles. Fans of Raymond Burr don't need to bother checking out this new (to America) version of Godzilla, since Burr, whose scenes were added for the benefit of American audiences, won't appear in the new version, which is identical to the version originally released in Japan and contains forty minutes of footage that was cut out of the film before it was shown in the US. Ishiro Honda's original Godzilla film had a strong anti-nuclear message, which was toned down considerably for its US release in the 1950s (since the US was continually conducting nuclear tests throughout the decade).

While Godzilla, at the ripe, old age of 50, may be relegated to an art-house run, this ultimate "cult" monster movie in its original version should be something of a revelation to hardcore fans, who will get to see a movie icon that spawned a record 26 sequels. For retailers who can get their hands on Godzilla merchandise, the theatrical showings of the original Godzilla film (and its subsequent release on DVD) could well be a major opportunity.
