It has a butttastic dub but the overall story is really good.

Serial Experiments Lain....
I can't tell if there's more of the show or more commercials during that time slot.
I got spoiled on Cartoon Network where there's only one commercial break during a half hour show. TechTV has 3-4.
Oh well, I just tape it and fast forward through the commercials anyway.
As for Lain itself: I have never seen the series before. I'll wait until after I see all of it before passing any judgment. |

LAIN is not messed up...it's just ..different.
and there's no sense in taping every night when they show all the eps they showed that week AND four new eps on Friday.

I just did what i suggest no human ever attempt again.
Watching 4 straight hours of Serial Experiements Lain in the dark, at an ungodly hour. My Brain has been permanently damaged due to the abuse my psyche has just endured.

After getting to see all 13 eps of Lain, I admit it wasn't that bad.
Now watching Betterman. Ugh! That dub is awful. Reign looks good about now.

Reigns voicework was just fine. it seems to have appropriate voices with pretty decent acting.

Betterman's voice acting is actually pretty good...compared to the stilted and often robotic voice acting in Crest of the Stars. By the way, did you know that the voice actor for Kaito(hope I spelled the name right) is the same one who did Van for Zoids: Chaotic Century(or at least sounds just like him)? Oh yeah, and one of the engineers(forgot his name, the main one, I think) for the Kokusagen(the big robot) is voiced by none other than the same voice actor who did Master Asia(G Gundam)? Last but not least, I'm pretty sure(not by the credits, but by the voices) that the VA who does Harry Champ for Zoids: Zero is the same one who does Amuro Ray's(Mobile Suit Gundam) voice. Hehe, I guess that's enough useless drivel from me...  |
