Time to visit the razor and shave the head again, Sigourney, as the plotlines to "Alien 5 and 6" have now surfaced.
The ultra-successful "Alien" series will have the shaven Sigourney Weaver slotted to play Ripley as she fights off the seemingly indestructible beast. Weaver has previously said she'd be interested in reprising her role, which she has done four times since the original 1979 blockbuster.
She has said, "I'm not interested in returning back to Earth," yet sources say that much of the fifth film takes place when Earth is attacked.
Number five is set on Earth, with the planet under attack from alien warrior drop ships, which made their debut in the original "Alien" movie. In the process they make Earth look like an incubator while attacking, leaving alien eggs around the humans.
That's when Ripley realizes her dreams have played a role in what's happening and she evacuates and confines herself to a cell, but inevitably she will meet her nemesis face to face again.
Number six takes place on the home turf of the navigator of the ship. Aliens are taking over other plants and Ripley finds herself forced to turn to the dark side in order to save civilization. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

Marvel Studios honcho Avi Arad, executive producer of the upcoming comic-book adaptation Hulk, told SCI FI Wire that the film changes the character's origin story to bring it closer to reality. "We just take the science fiction and bring it closer to science," Arad said in an interview while promoting the film. "It's very much in the origin that Bruce Banner actually had contamination, so something triggered this. And what we wanted to do is take it to the next level of intelligence. It's not that he got his toe in the door and, 'Oh my God. I'm the Hulk.'"
Arad, who has overseen such page-to-screen projects as Spider-Man, X-Men and Daredevil, said that there have been several origin stories and incarnations of the Hulk during the comic series' long run. "There are many origins," he said. "When you publish for 40 years, there are a lot of stories. There's a gray Hulk, there's a green Hulk, there's a speaking Hulk, there's a singing Hulk." According to Arad, any one of these incarnations may appear in a potential Hulk sequel, which is currently being developed by screenwriter James Schamus. Hulk opens June 20. _________________ "Veni. Filmmaker Spike Lee (GET ON THE BUS, KINGS OF COMEDY) is suing Viacom over its plans to call the TNN channel Spike TV to attract male viewers. Lee filed papers June 3, 2003 for an injunction against Viacom's use of the name, it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "The media description of this change of name, as well as comments made to me and my wife, confirmed what was obvious – that Spike TV referred to Spike Lee," he said in court papers. Viacom has been asked to explain why it shouldn't be barred from using the name. Viacom bought TNN in 2000 and announced a new programming and branding initiative, which is expected to launch on June 16, 2003. Viacom said it was confident the court would reject Lee's claims to the name Spike. Lee said TNN's president Albie Hecht has publicly associated the name "Spike" with Lee. Lee has signed affidavits from industry people who thought of Lee when they heard about Spike TV. Some believed Lee had become affiliated with the network.

Entrepreneur Haim Saban has dropped out of his $2.3 billion contract to buy Germany's biggest broadcaster ProSiebenSat 1 from bankrupt KirchMedia. Saban signed the 40,000-page contract on March 27, 2003 for the acquisition of the broadcaster and its programming rights to approximately 18,000 films and series, the largest film library outside of Hollywood. Over the next two months, Saban did not agree with KirchMedia and creditor banks on "details of the transaction" by the deadline of May 31 for the purchase of ProSiebenSat 1. Saban was given an extension to present his plans to finance the deal. He had been talking to other broadcasters, including France's TF1, and leveraged buyout firms, such as the Carlyle Group, Inc. and Texas Pacific Group, to help him finance the takeover of ProSiebenSat1 and the film rights library. He also asked German regulators to excuse him from having to buy out ProSiebenSat 1 minority shareholders for an additional cost of $500 million.
KirchMedia its creditor banks will now remain in control of the assets. Mediaset, the broadcaster owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and German publisher Heinrich Bauer Verlag had each expressed interest in buying KirchMedia assets before the Saban deal.
The creditors and KirchMedia's topper Hans-Joachim Ziems reportedly are set to manage things and wait for market conditions to improve in a year or two before they try to sell. They will have to come up with up to $350 million to take care of restructuring and keep things running. VARIETY reports that former RTL TV head Helmut Thoma agreed to be on an alternative list of new supervisory board members to be presented at the shareholder's June 16 meeting, in case the Saban takeover failed. Thomas is helping with the restructuring and is rumored to be the next head of ProSiebenSat 1.

Despite increasingly vocal opposition, the FCC approved changes in media ownership regulations on June 2, 2003 that are expected to lead to a new series of mergers as media companies seek to expand and enter into new combinations in local markets across the U.S. Changes the FCC made included raising the percentage of the nation's TV households one company can reach from 35% to 45%. It lifted a 28-year band on allowing newspaper and broadcast combinations in larger markets and is also allowing one company to own more radio stations locally. The vote split along party lines 3-2, with three Republication commissioners voting for the change and two Democrats objecting. The FCC did not touch the ban on mergers among the four major TV networks, but they do stand the most to gain from the vote. The FCC received more than 750,000 pieces of mail -- the most related to any one issue in the history of the FCC. Many critics claim that further consolidation will drown out minority viewpoints and destroy competition. Some say it will lead to more unemployment in the entertainment industry.
This is great news! Hooray! Now Disney, AOL Time Warner, and Viacom can continue with their plans to cause monopolies by force! Yay! _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

Disney's new branded service, Disney Channel on Demand, will be offered to Cablevision's 400,000 digital TV subscribers across the nation for an additional $4.95 per month. As part of a pact with ABC Cable Networks Group, this video-on-demand package consists of original series programming for preschoolers from Playhouse Disney and original movies and series for older kids.
The Disney subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) package will allow subscribers to pick and choose individual programs for an additional fee. Disney Channel reaches across 81 million U.S. households.
This marks the brand's first alliance with a U.S. cable company, but represents Cablevision's sixth such offering, alongside packages from HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, FOX, and Playboy.
Cablevision, which serves some 3 million New York-area subscribers, will provide the package for subscribers already receiving Disney via the extended basic or premium package basis. ABC Cable Networks is pursuing other digital service opportunities in the U.S.
The announcement comes on the heels of last week's outlining of a disposable DVD online download service between Disney, Movielink.com, and Movie Beam datacasting service. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

Oscar Winner Gregory Peck Dies at 87
Thu Jun 12, 5:59 PM ET
By DAVID GERMAIN, AP Movie Writer
LOS ANGELES - Gregory Peck, who embodied saintly fatherhood in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and played a range of real-life figures from Abraham Lincoln to Josef Mengele, died Thursday at 87.
With his wife of 48 years, Veronique, at his side, Peck died about 4 a.m. at his Los Angeles home, spokesman Monroe Friedman said.
Though he played a handful of villains, including the Nazi doctor Mengele in "The Boys From Brazil," Peck was best known for upright, chivalrous characters in such films as "Roman Holiday" and "Gentleman's Agreement" or stalwart heroes in "Captain Horatio Hornblower" and "Pork Chop Hill."
Nominated for Academy Awards four times early in his career, Peck finally won the best-actor honor with his fifth and final nomination for "To Kill a Mockingbird." The 1962 classic was based on Harper Lee's novel about widowed lawyer Atticus Finch, who is raising two children amid Southern racial unrest as he defends a black man wrongly accused of raping a white woman.
"Gregory Peck was unique. He represents integrity, compassion and honesty. His star shone brightly for a long time, and now it will continue to shine in heaven," said Kirk Douglas. "We talked so often about doing a picture together, and I am sad that we never got to do one."
Peck's "legacy not only lies in his films, but in the dignified, decent and moral way in which he worked and lived," said Steven Spielberg. "He was the reigning father of the actor."
Finch earned Peck his final Hollywood honor, placing No. 1 last week on the American Film Institute's list of top 50 heroes in U.S. movies. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Viacom has been denied a stay that would have allowed it to change the name of its entertainment network The New TNN to Spike TV, despite a lawsuit from director Spike Lee. As a result, the network will remain "The New TNN" until the dispute is resolved. However, its programming, which includes a much-hyped animation block, will continue as scheduled. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

Latest news:
Today’s New York Post features a report saying that the current court case that TNN is involved in over them changing their name to Spike TV has already cost them $16.8 million. The case was filed by feature film director Spike Lee along side his very popular attorney, Johnny Cochran.
Among income lost includes "loss of media dollars, production costs, and advertising revenues," due to the injunction that keeps TNN from changing its name to Spike TV, after a very heavy advertising campaign to promote the new network.
Latest words are that TNN has already spent up to $30 million advertising the network to only have viewers unable to find it.

Former Vice President Al Gore is seeking financial backers for a liberal cable television network to help Democrats counter conservative media voices, Time magazine reported on its Web site on Wednesday.
Gore, who ran unsuccessfully for the White House in 2000 against President Bush, has met with politically oriented figures in Hollywood and wealthy investors, Time said on its Web site Time.com, citing unnamed sources.
The Democrats wants to build a media enterprise to counter conservative voices on cable television and talk radio, and his network would feature "progressive" viewpoints, Time said.
Gore's role in any such enterprise is unclear, it said.
He also arranged meetings between Hollywood figures and venture capitalists Sheldon and Anita Drobny who want to invest $10 million in a liberal radio network, Time said.
Democrats have complained that Republicans have had an advantage in media with the number of conservative voices on cable television and radio talk shows, and they hope to build a stronger media presence as the 2004 election approaches.
Gore opted against another run for the White House in 2004, although his former running mate Sen. Joseph Lieberman is hoping to become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee to challenge Bush next year.
The Time article cited an interview Gore gave to the New York Observer newspaper last year, in which he said: "The media is kind of weird these days on politics, and there are some major institutional voices that are, truthfully speaking, part and parcel of the Republican Party."
"There's a bunch of them, and some of them are financed by wealthy ultra-conservative billionaires who make political deals with Republican administrations and the rest of the media," Gore said in the interview.
A spokesman for Gore could not immediately be reached for comment. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015

As opposed to the liberal billionaire who started the whole cable news idea...
